The last resort for patients with rare, undiagnosed medical conditions is Dr. William Gahl's Undiagnosed Diseases Program at the National Institutes of Health. Lara Logan reports on Sunday, May 20 at 7 p.m. ET/PT.

You're Sebastian and his family's last hope. We feel so lucky that Sebastian's got chosen to be in your program and we're always hoping to hear from you with some news.
Thank you for all you do, Brigitte and family
This is so sad that so many people suffer and no one is there to prevent it.
Sincerely, Kirby Hughes
Dr. Gahl has been the primary investigator for Hermansky-Pudlak Syndrome at the National Institutes of Health since the mid 1990s. He opened the first natural history study for the disorder, and the first treatment trial for the pulmonary fibrosis of HPS. His lab discovered two of the nine genes known to cause HPS. To date, Dr. Gahl and his lab have seen more patients with HPS than any other medical facility in the world.
