Since times immemorial, the leaders of the states by definition were expected to have millitary background. Even today, our president is supposedly a "commander in chief." But since WWI the wars of today are a much more dependent on "intelligence and overt actions." This is why the ordinary people live in a lot more peace, overall. So, should we insist that our future "commanders in chief" be a lot more savy in the realm of millitary intelligence, than we had so far? Just like we expect more and more from them in terms of understanding economy and judicial system???
