The evidence of the "case" was questionable at best. The "dope user son" story makes little sense and the handing\giving away of a gun by the mother was more about rethinking harming herself than an action of a gal fearful for her life.
Ann Rule got tired of just writing and decided to get some face time with the media.
The mother of the dead wife cannot come to terms with the loss and needs someone to blame to assuage her hurt and anger. Shame on her for attempting to ruin others for her own shortcomings.
I would like to know why no one addressed just a few of the following:
1) Why did Rhonda call people from two different directions to take her to an airport- A) PDX B) SEA-- never answered. That is peculiar as hell.
2) Was there a ticket purchased at either airport?
3) Why would you have a friend from Des Moines (lives about 10 Minutes from Sea-Tac Airport), drive all the way down to Toledo, in order to pick you up. That is about 120 miles one way. That means that her friend drove home the night before (120 mi.), was coming to get her in time for a "Morning" flight out (120 to Toledo) and then take her to Sea-Tac (another 120 Mi.). See where I'm going with this.... Lot of driving, lot of time driving, lot of miles (nearly 360) all expected in less than a 12 hour window. If he lived that close to the airport, why would she not drive her rig up there and park in his driveway for a few days while she was in Spokane?
4) Embellished character of Rhonda??? EX- STATE TROOPER; almost on the brink of jail time herself for stealing finances. Why does Ann and the rest of the press continue to refer to Rhonda with a title that she DISGRACED?
Since the inquest--
5A) Why did Rhonda call and forgive debts to her ex-husband that night? According to phone records she made MANY, MANY (60+) calls that night. Compared to almost no calls just the night before.
5B/5) All of the legal records are available-- there are several things that surfaced during the inquest that were neglected in the book.
6) Why do both her ex-husband and best friend, both believe it is likely that Rhonda took herself out? What about the close friend of Rhonda's that said she heard Rhonda once explain how she could make suicide look like a homicide?

Ronda was killed by her ex-husband and perverted stepson. The ex-husband, who's on his 4th marriage, is a NARCISSIST and so is his son. The ex-husband loved her enough to sleep w/his ex-wife (which he CONVENIENTLY couldn't remember if he did indeed sleep w/his ex-wife or not)but claimed maybe his ex-wife remembered things differently. Really dude? How can someone have sex in the same bedroom that their dead spouse was found in? Most people wouldn't even be able to reside in that house much less have a moment of pleasure in it. They're both GUILTY but they're sticking to their story and that's the end of that as far as they're concerned. To Ronda's parents/family: I am so sorry that those bastards took your love one from you. Justice will be served on them-one way or another. Sometimes one's freedom is actually their prison sentence. Much condolences on your loss.

That Reynolds family is creepy. The son, Jonathan is definitely a drug user. I've seen several individuals who wind up looking like him: he is emaciated and his teeth are indicators of the amount of drugs that he has used. Ron's inability to remember that his ex-wife spent the night in bed with him is also telling. Those folks are used to spinning webs of lies. Ms. Thompson you have my deepest sympathy on the loss of your daughter. I'm sorry that the police did such a horrible job and botched the crime scene. May God grant you peace and may knowing that your daughter's death was finally acknowledged a homicide, bring you a small measure of comfort. These folks might be getting away with covering up a murder in this life, but justice can be served in the hereafter. No bad deed goes unpunished. God Bless.

I have read most if not all Ann Rule's investigative books including this one. Ann is not a flake. Ronda was not a flake. She had the misfortune of marrying a narcissist. Unfortunately, in this case, enough care was not taken in assessing Ronda's body/hand in relationship to the weapon. This was not a suicide. Plain and simple, this was murder. Sadly, not all counties can afford permanent medical examiners and staff which better guarantees quality forensics in homicides or suspicious death. Truth will bear out eventually. In any case, there is a God and he knows exactly who did it even if the Justice system fails.

These cases seem to have so many questions I HATE TO SAY THIS what was her role in this now that she's dead it will be difficult to get exact information from the living I have not been involved in any Murders but i do know when things happen (even if i am on the receiving end of something) i was at least there and in some way a part of the whole scenario

Does anyone else not wonder why this case was so poorly handled at every level, up to (but not including) the Coroner's Inquest?
This reminds me of the kind of stuff that was routine during criminal cases back 40 or more years ago, when we didn't have the quality techniques, clearly defined procedures and exacting scientific data to assist law enforcement and judicial agencies at all levels in the pursuit of the truth and justice (as much as possible). This kind of incompetence should never be tolerated by the American public. It is also why we need more transparency at all levels to ensure that people give everything their best efforts and can not sweep things under the rug (so to speak).

Hi, I just watched 48 Hours Mystery on CBS and I have family members that are Jehovah's Witnesses and some who have been "disfellowshipped" because my uncle had to shoot someone in self defense. The Kingdom Hall dis-felloewshipped him and my aunt because of what he did even though he had no chioice. I promise that if Ronda's husband and family are guilty of this crime or had something to do with it, since he is a Jevah's Witness, him and his family WILL be dis-fellowshipped" by the Kingdom Hall because all of this. They do not want any blood on their hands or anything to do with this at all! Their thinking behind all of this is ....."The Less We Know The Better Off We Are"

I think this man and his son are guilty as sin and should be tried and they will answer one day for what they have done. At least they changed it that it is homicide and that the case is still open and hope they get them both.
