I think that's what makes the loss of Mike Wallace so critical ... because his well-polished skills are so needed in journalism right now. Yet Mike Wallace was a one-off, and journalism is far the less for his passing.
Moreover, he is a source of inspiration - true inspiration - for everyone, not just journalists. To consider his body of work is simply astounding. Any single one of his remarkable interviews of world leaders, politicians or crooks is what careers are made of.
A man of genuine spirit and grace is gone.
Rest in peace, Mike Wallace.
