"...This also didn't explain how sugar is "toxic." "Toxic" is nuclear waste, or medical waste infected with MRSA etc."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Trans, you might want to read your dictionary. According to mine:
Toxic (adjective) 1. involving something poisonous- relating to or containing a poison or toxin 2. deadly- causing serious harm or death
No where did it say anything about nuclear waste or infected medical waste.
Toxic means poisonous, i.e. bleach, engine coolant, scouring powders. They are all 'toxic' given the right circumstance. Touching them won't hurt you, in most cases, just like touching sugar, but if you consume them, it's a whole different ball game. The size or amount you consume doesn't change the fact they are toxic. It only changes the results of the toxin.
They only focused on sugary drinks, but not variations of chocolate chip cookies, or cake, or banana nut bread, or carrot cake, or oatmeal with a sprinkle of sugar on only on top. Those things deliver sugar very differently. So to say that this study applies to all sugar consumption is erroneous because they only studied liquids. This also didn't explain how sugar is "toxic." "Toxic" is nuclear waste, or medical waste infected with MRSA etc. Sugar is not "toxic" in moderation, but like alcohol and vitamins, can be in large amounts. This is such yellow journalistic sensationalism.
