Anti-hunting: It's never ethical

June 10, 2012 11:56 AM

Priscilla Feral, president of Friends of Animals, says animals hunted on ranches have no chance to escape the hunter. Feral says all hunting is "degrading and violent."

Can hunting endangered animals save the species?

It is never
ethical. I am terrified that someone will dscover who I am. I want to save these animals, but I do not want to die, as THE ANIMALS will if I do not speak up for them.

PlneTruth is right on. Our stewardship here on earth requires that we manage animal populations. While there are horrible things that happen to animals, responsible hunters are not doing those things. True reverence for any animal population requires a form of management. Some activities withing a responsible wildlife management system will involve harvesting these animals. There are many examples where we haven't done our job and the population became sick and presented a threat to other species or humans. Culling the herd is a necessary evil. Just like the headline says: Anti-hunting: It is never ethical. EXACTLY! Anti-hunting attitudes produce the most unethical view points ever. If you want to be vegan, then be vegan. By the way, if we don't continue to properly manage the wildlife your food will be impacted negatively as well.

This is one of those topics I have a really hard time with. Priscilla reminds me of a woman who scolded me as a young man. I was standing in a convenience store waiting to pay for my gas. I was dressed in full camo and in the process of checking in a freshly killed elk. Her basic argument was we didn't need to kill live animals for food. So I asked "How do you get food if you don't eat what you kill?". Her response was "I just go to the grocery store." Priscilla, the numbers do NOT support you. Neither does morality or any sense of humanity. Animals that are not actively managed die horrible inhumane deaths and their bodies are mostly wasted. The success or our wildlife conservation system is unprecedented. I agree that these are magnificent and beautiful creatures. So I work hard to make sure that when I kill it is quick. I work hard to make sure the animal is properly handled and everything available is used in the most respectful way possible. Remember the largest number of animals harvested are not the youngest and strongest. For the most part they are older or otherwise not the best genetic sample to further the species. Harvesting wild game on a ranch or otherwise simply saves human lives and insures that we can still observe these magnificent creatures in the wild. Thank God our ancestors have guarded this inalienable human right hunt and have put in place the laws and rules that are observed by responsible hunters. If not for them I would only be able to see these creatures on TV.

How does Ms Feral get paid? What nut cases support her? I would like to know. Her answer is let "let the animals die out its better for them." I believe if I was one of the thousands in Texas, I would take my chances.

well, let the man who advocates it be one of the one who is running for his life. Who is man to determine what other life form is worth living? The thrill of the hunt is only a thrill for the hunter. Shame on you who kill for the thrill of it... it will catch up with you someday.

I am a gun totting woman from Texas and I think if animals could shoot back and defend themselves, there would be NO HUNTIN. Hunters would turn tail and RUN!! It's not like serving in the military, your shooting at something that can shoot back!!!! How big or small does an enclosure have to be to be a canned hunt? Pretty soon, these animals will be like the wacked out deer with enormous antlers that they can't even raise up their head(easier to shoot). They will change into another species, bred by man, UG. The only one with any courage, besides animals, in this story is Mrs. Feral. Why do we never see animals actually dieing, they never show that. More are maimed and suffer than die quickly as hunter insist. You want to get out and do something hard, take photos, if its not about the killin. That's hard! Besides habitat loss, poaching, over huntin is reason these animals are almost gone. What would God hunt for a trophy?

Miss Feral, since you are against hunting, I'll bring some of our Texas feral pigs (an invasive species), like you an ignorant pig, up to lala land where you live and put them on your land in the city where YOU live. And you can love them all day long. And when they multiply and tear up you and your neighbors land, since your a friend of the animals, you can explain to all your friends and neighbors why HUNTING them would be wrong.

So the "Animal Rights" folks can claim as their success returning 175 of the antelopes to a game reserve in Senegal (and they probably got them from a ranch in Texas). The "immoral" ranchers efforts have led to 10000 animals. Who's actually doing more for the animals? The reality is except for a few places where eco-tourism is big e.g. Kenya most places in Africa and other places are loosing their animals because the local populations don't have (or perceive) the economic incentive to keep these animals around. OTOH the ranchers are doing what many "conservationists" have only been able to do in their wildest dreams because they have worked out how to make the animals pay.

If you're really interested in increasing the numbers of the animals the most economical way to do that is probably to build up the numbers in places like those ranches but the ranchers won't do it unless they can make a profit and if that's what you're really interested in then you rather see a Cape Buffalo than a cow - we already have enough cows.

The woman doesn't care about preserving these animals. She only cares about her personal agenda!!!! She is an idiot!! And I am not a tree hugger!!! Even the other conservationist in the segment agreed that the ranchers were actually beneficial to the preservation of the species involved!!!

Priscilla Feral is uglier than an African Warthog! Why so ugly? Because she believes hunting is akin to ecoterrorism! Priscilla is the real terrorist of the wild!Conservationists in Texas have brought these animals back from the brink of destruction, but Priscilla would rather see them go extinct in Africa! I'm sick of liberal, tree hugging, anti- American, non-hunting, idiotic, lost in the clouds people that have never taken the time to talk to a hunter or fisherman. I grew up hunting and fishing and love the outdoors. I as with most hunters eat everything we take from the wild. Take the wild animals out of the outdoors and you have a zoo where most kids today believe its the only place to go see an exotic animal. Instead of looking at the facts, that hunting and fishing brings millions into conservation, you have people like Priscilla "all knowing animal lover" that sit in their office in big cities and like to tell people how to live their lives. Miss Feral, maybe you should take a cue from your last name "Feral" meaning wild and get out of the big city and spend time with real conservationists, hunters and fisherman! And since I'm a Texan I want you to stay the heck out of our business!
