I just like to say, that its about time someone comes in and drop the price on these things. All these rich people are just scared that they won't be millionaires for a few more generations. Them being robbed, please its your own damn fault for making the damn thing that expensive. Isn't this how the CAVIAR mafia started also. Hello we live in a recession why are the rich only able to afford such nonsense. Keep bringing them in CHINA!!!!

This is the first time I am hearing of a truffle. Has someone tasted them? Is it really worth paying that much for a slice of fungus?

Hey, it's as important to the rich to know they are being put at risk as it is to the poor to learn there is lead paint on bibs and toys from China. The rich who spend their money on such nonsense have a right to know they are being deceived. Personally, I thought Truffles were a Chocolate delicacy, not an underground mushroom type fungus. I have been educated!

I agree that this story is not worthy of a 60 minutes episode. I clicked on it out of curiosity. I worked very hard in high school to get into a good college. I worked hard in college to get into graduate school. I worked hard in graduate school to get into medical school and I work hard at my job. I respect ALL people but it is offensive to hear such insults directed toward a person who spends a lot of money on any given item! I worked damn hard to live this way and NOTHING was handed to me! If I want to spend $1000.00 on a truffle, I earned it! (Although I wouldn't)

Im simply outraged! How can I sleep knowing this travesty of truffle-dom is happening right under my spoiled rotten nose! The idea that 60 minutes finds this story worthy of national attention is a testament to yet another news organization losing track. 99.99999 % of all americans have probaly NEVER eaten a truffle, much less give a damn about truffle wars. These snooty purists make me sick. You blew it on this one - but im sure the moderator got to eat a gourmet meal on the house, right Leslie?

Weird. I thought truffles were a type of chocolate candy. That's what they try to pass them off as in the USA.

God, this is disgusting. That woman with the tan and fur is disgusting. The dogs do all the work and the pig humans get the credit and money. The fur/tan specimen actually says: "Now you see why they're so expensive..." Really? Why, because you take a walk with your dog in the hills and they dig up a fungus? That's why they're so expensive? What a species we are.

No wonder there is crime, the low supply and the high demand.. and china on the other hand wants in on the Italian/France pie.

THAT'S IT! I AM SO SICK OF THIS! SOMETHING IS SERIOUSLY WRONG WITH THE WORLD WHEN AN AVERAGE GUY CAN'T EVEN FLY ON HIS PRIVATE JET TO A SUPER EXCLUSIVE FRENCH RESTAURANT TO ENJOY A SIMPLE LUNCH THAT COSTS MORE THAN THE ANNUAL INCOME OF 50% OF THE WORLD WITHOUT PAYING FOR IMITATION, CHINESE TRUFFLES! I ASK YOU, FACEBOOK, IS THERE NO MORE DECENCY IN THE WORLD?! #firstworldproblems
