No one besides Ron Paul will ever mention this. Lobbyists get thrown out of his office and that's the way it should be!

"Lobbying" should be illegal and any lawmaker or public official who takes these bribes should be shot.

Americans need to wake up and get rid of all these people the whole system is rotten to the core.

What, has Leslie been living on Mars for the last 20 years? Did she become a Jouralist yesterday? What a total joke. I knew about this stuff back when it was happening. Leslie faines shock! Shock that something like this could happen!! Same stuff happens today, just different names and much, much worse. 60 Minutes... what a total joke. You need to hire some serious people, and dump these Leslie characters. I will never watch 60 Minutes again. 15 years too late, and clueless.

I've worked in Washington for more than 35 years, for Democratic and Republican leaning interest group representatives, and I'm surpised at the naivete of reaction to this piece.

While Leslie's wide-eyed indignation may have been piqued by the revelations of what a lobbyist has done, it is paralled by many of the public interest and industry organizations in town.

Abramoff was doing what all DC Lobbyists aspire to achieve (deceive) and he got pinched. The former, and more importantly, current DC Lobbyists along with a large majority of the US Congress are now pinching the American people, and will take a hard fall as America spirals farther and farther down the Global economic abyss. Everyone and everything has its breaking point. Real effective change will come only when America reaches its breaking point. There is too much power in Washington, DC and that absolute power, that is now corrupted, will be be absolutely corrupted and absolved in the near future. The Great Recession (Depression 2) is only the beginning. I hate to see what the end will become.

If socialism comes to this country it will be our corrupt government and the masters they serve who will open the door.

This is just one of the reasons nothing positive for the public gets accomplished. How many of the "super committee" have conflicts of interest; are beholden to their backers?

I'm thoroughly disgusted with Washington. Perhaps it's time for a benevolent dictatorship.
