Dear Michelle, please stop mangling history.

Let's take this from the end of WWII. After eventually getting the Soviets out, Iran had a constitutional monarchy and parliamentary democracy under the Shah. The government votes to nationalize Iran's biggest asset, oil.
UKand US go ballistic as they have private contracts. MI6 and theCIA organize a coup d'etat to make the Shah a dictator as long as he crushes the Islamists( ie any one not only religious fundamentalist but anyone who might want democracy or the west out of their oil industry.) The so called 'white revolution' that was to propel Iran into modernization and prosperity predictably went into the pockets of the few and the majority of Iranians lived in appalling conditions.

So let's recap, we put in Shah's dictatorship in Iran, Mubarak in Egypt, Gaddafi in Libya, Hussein in Iraq For the soul purposes of protecting Israel and oil Interests. Come on no wonder the Arabs hate us. That's imperialism on a scale the British would be proud of. That's not what the US was created for, getting involved with everyone else's business.

Wow. That's like saying Jefferson - 'the 'Father of Democracy' - is 'to blame' for the American Revolution. Aren't uprisings against dictatorships for the purpose of promoting democracy among the people something to be congratulated? Isn't that how we got here - fighting against tyranny? For her to insinuate that these mostly peaceful uprisings are wrong - and the result of President Obama not being able to solve the unsolvable conflict between militant Israelis and militant Palestinians - is to show disdain for the obvious advantages such revolutions have wrought and a lack of understanding of the Middle East conflict. We are promoting democracy everywhere through official and unofficial means - supporting democratic changes in country after country that suffer today under vicious rulers who routinely slaughter their constituents. Does Bachmann actually oppose such efforts? Would she have allowed the Libyans to be murdered on the scale of Syrian activists right now? Wow. Keep her around, folks: a bad example is always worth more than a good one, because it shows us how not to be.
