Basically, this was a campaign stop, and of course, mostly Obama supporters were present. It is nothing but propaganda, and meaningless, as Obama really is NOT offering ANY solutions for the country's problems.

Real answers never come.....just political rhetoric.

I participated in this Town Hall event and was mostly impressed with the President's answers to many of the questions, but feel that there was a huge disservice done to the population of Americans under age 40. In this 'unplugged' segment there was an excellent question by a Howard University Senior that articulately addressed the plight of students and those who have graduated in the past 5 years, but there is more to add. Private student loan lenders such as Sallie Mae are crippling the likes of myself and many of my colleagues and former classmates financially by being allowed to operate predatory lending models that have high interest rates (some over 10%), short repayment periods (10 years for loans that can be up to $100,000), won't be consolidated, and with repayment plans that are not based on income. To people dealing with this, there is no question of ever having a mortgage to worry about, or the ability to ever buy a car or to start saving for retirement. Many of us are still living at home because we can't afford to pay rent and to also make payments that are over $700 sometimes (INTEREST ONLY!). This problem not only effects the loan holders, but also effects the co-signers, the parents, and children of these individuals. It should not be overlooked, and there should be some accountability in this economic environment. We have had some student loan reforms, but that has resulted in the Dept of Education selling many of their loans to these private loan companies, and in essence, continually rewarding them despite their behavior. If Sallie Mae can make a profit by following the rules for the Dept of Ed Loans, than they have shown that they can more than make a profit by applying these same rules to their private loans.

I guess Obama forgot to mention that he voted AGAINST raising the debt limit when he was a senator.

as to how to lower gas simple first require all fuel speculators to take direct delivery to tanks that they Personally maintain and should it be sold it must be delivered by that investor to the next owners tank and not held in common tank and be bought and sold only on paper staying in one location jumping in value. this would end Lots of the quick cash speculation in fuel and cut the cost a large amount due to the cumbersome nature of a trade.

CBS, The idea was a good one, but Mr. Obama has once again wasted our time and money. He has stated the obvious and continued his political rhetoric, building his case for re-election. Not one answer helped or answered the question itself satisfactorally.
