Years ago we stopped watching 60 Minutes. It was too negative. Too contrived. I believed America and Americans were better than the show portrayed.

Recently, we started watching the show again. For the last three weeks they have not only covered the headlines, but have covered stories that inspire. 60 Minutes has returned to journalism. I have long argued that journalism is dead if we fail to inspire. If there is problem, tell me who is working on a solution. If there is tragedy, tell me how I can help.

Life is good here in America. People are good in America. There are individuals, small groups and organizations among us making a difference. Lets talk about that. Lets tell the stories and show the pathway toward of success.

Thank you for telling these inspiring stories.

I grew up in the land where this music was created by slaves in shackles as an outlet for their being help captive to keep sane at first. Later the church became involved once slaves were allowed to worship as were others. I speak of the Low Country Sea Islands of Georgia, south Carolina, and North Carolina. Much was not understood by whites as they spoke and sang in "Gullah"; a mixture of African Tribal languages, English, French and Spanish. This language is still in use today and a source of pride for Black and White people alike ! It has a history of its own and needs to be saved at all cost along with Gospel Music, an Art Form in and of itself. It tells the stories and shows the pain and happiness that these people found for themselves ! I learned this language due to exposure to many African American workers as I grew up in the early to mid fifties in Charleston, S.C. Once you learn the language it has a "sing song" rythum and the words sung in this manner begin to make a language all it's own and is easy to understand !
