As Aaron's older sister, we share a mother, it was very difficult to know the struggles we were going through and not be able to do anything to help him. We had basically been homeless since we moved down to Florida back in 2000, bopping around various places, shelters and the like, with our mother and brothers. When the family he refers to first took him in, it was a blessing that he finally found the stability our mother could not provide.
It is very strange to have your younger brother serve as a role model, but he has become a young man that I couldn't be prouder of. With all that we've been through over the years, it's remarkable how undying his spirit is, how tenacious he can be when pursuing a goal.
I wish my brother all the success in the world, with the knowledge that should he strive for it, he will achieve it.
