listening to david speak so a matter of factly and unafraid to answer the tough questions under fire without a lawyer you would think and believe he is innocent..either he is a great manipulator or a great planner fore-thinker..hmmm premeditation anyone? experienced diver?? tore her mask and turned her air off by all herself? (can you reach the shut off valve when mounted on your back?) suicide?? nah, i don't buy it..SOMEONE TURNED OFF HER AIR (maybe the fish did), that'll im sure make her go nuts i bet is how the mask got ripped off..david's free due to incompetent prosecution and Caribbean courts

David is guilty, guilty, guilty.

1. He owns a dive shop, and he let his wife dive alone?#@!

My family is full of divers with many dives and certifications. We **NEVER** dive without a buddy. **NEVER**

His wife wrote in her logbook that she had one experience of panic during a previous dive, and he let her dive alone?#@!

2. David's son and lawyers wanted to show that her air consumption indicates she stopped breathing 15 minutes into the dive based upon her average air consumption during previous dives.

If she was panicking during the fatal dive, her air consumption would have SOARED.

Air consumption CANNOT be used to prove anything because nobody knows her RATE of consumption during the fatal dive specifically.

3. David's answers to many questions are incredibly stupid.

CBS reporter: "You split up during the dive. Doesn't that go against standard practice?"
David: "How many times have you broken the speed limit?"

[Have the diving associations pulled your "Dive Master" license yet, David? They should.]

CBS: "When David kissed [Mary Basler] one summer night, she told him she was not willing to get involved with a married man"
David: "I'm as guilty of being curious beyond what I should have as anybody"

[It's not "curiosity", David. It's cheating, playing around, unfaithfulness, dishonesty.]

I have two questions for David:

** Was Shelley wearing a dive computer, which would automatically log LOTS of information, during the fatal dive? If not, why not?

** How much did you pay the Tortola appeals judges to get your freedom?

A husband convicted of killing his wife underwater more than a decade ago is a free man again after a panel of judges overturned the ruling.
The diver walked free after appeal judges found problems with jury instructions read by a judge during the trial in 2009. The court did not order a new trial because of concerns about recalling defence witnesses, given the amount of time passed since the death.

Even the daughter at 21:35 looks shady. Looking all around as she's walking. Or maybe she's looking over her shoulder now. Glad the father got what was coming to him and didn't get away with this.

Oh, I forgot. Smooth talking, along with cocky, arrogant, sleazy and can't be trusted. These are the types of avoid. Something about him sends off red flags. Some women are too stupid to figure it out.

I TRULY BELIEVE HE MURDERED HIS WIFE....PEOPLE SAID THAT HE WAS VERY UNEMOTIONAL BUT HE SHOWED A LOT OF EMOTION WHEN THEY SAID HE WAS SO HAPPY AFTER HER DEATH...OF COURSE HE WAS HAPPY AND COULD SHOW EMOTION.....HE HAD JUST RECEIVED A LOT OF MONEY AND THE WOMAN HE WAS WRITTING TO GET TO SPEND THE WEEKEND WITH THAT HE SAID WAS HIS SOULMATE EVEN BEFORE HE MURDERED HIS WIFE. THE OTHER WOMAN SAID SHE WOULD NOT GO WITH A MARRIED MAN...SO HE GOT RID OF THAT PROBLEM.....AND PROVED IT WHEN HE GOT WITH THAT SAME WOMAN AFTER HE MURDERED HIS WIFE.....HOW CAN ANYONE BE SO STUPID,,,,,NOT TO KNOW THAT....HE HAD BEEN RAISED IN A HORRIBLE FAMILY,,,A FATHER TURNING HIMSELF INTO A WOMAN AND A BROTHER THAT MURDERED HIS OWN MOTHER.....SO WAS USED TO THOSE KIND OF THINGS.....HE GOT THE MONEY, THE SOUL MATE HE WANTED....AND GOT RID OF THE MESS HE WAS TALKING ABOUT.... MEN MURDER THEIR WIVES EVERY DAY...PLEAAASEE....GET A GRIP...NO DOUBT TO ME HE DID IT....

There were moments he looked innocent to me and other moments just the opposite. Pointing out that the judge didn't allow defense's witnesses on stand put the weigh on the "not guilty" scale, because, how on earth can you decide somebody's guilt or innocence if you don't have as much evidance before your eyes as possible?
This is outraging!

I think her parents were more interested in money then he was. He sign a pr-nup. Her parents still talked about money after her death. He seems innocent to me. I was shocked to learn they found him guilty on such little evidence. What a screwed up system. Not only did this guy get screwed out of a normal childhood, now as an adult he's wrongly convicted. wow. How can he have any faith in humanity anymore. His father was a real sicko!!!
