Linda Opdycke is a manipulative liar. Mark was a kind, funny, talented man who doesn't deserve to be trashed when he isn't around to defend himself. My dog spent four weeks with Mark; the transformation from unruly to an obedient dog was remarkable. Mark didn't work only with the rich and famous; he helped thousands of families lead happy lives with their dogs and provided continuing support after training was finished. Oakes should rot in jail with Linda and her father along side him. The Opdyckes wanted the island and Mark stood in their way. There is no way Oakes acted alone or paid for such a high powered attorney on his own. Rest in peace, Mark.

This Opdycke woman is a liar and a murderer. She claims to love animals and she sends her boyfriend to kill her ex and shoot his dog. Her flat affect during her interview points more to her guilt than anything. I just wish they did not spend the first 40 minutes making the victim look like a crazy stalker. He was mad about his divorce and cheating spouse. Do not insult people whom have actually been terrorized and stalked with faux hysterics. She was never physically assaulted or threatened and looks quite alive. Why would her boyfriend risk his life and family to murder this guy if she had nothing to do with it? This whole thing comes down to one to Linda Opdycke. He had moved on from her. Then her first thought when she heard he was missing and his dog shot almost dead was about herself. That says it all. Selfish murderer. I am so sorry for Mark Stover's family. Michael Oakes pulled the trigger but Linda Opdycke set it in motion.

Different perspective than the Dateline show - seems a bit more in-depth, however I'm not following the reason for interviewing Mark Stover's niece when she admittedly has "never met" Linda Updyke nor Michael Oakes. Her opinions add nothing to the story.

Dateline program was good but failed to cover some evidence & testimony that implicate Linda:

Video tape of Linda Opdycke & Michiel Oakes on her very front porch, hugging and kissing with a rifle case at his feet as he heads to Anacortes.

Testimony from Ace Hardware employee that the day after murder both of them came into the store and wanted him to hold the rifle case.

That even after 2 searches of her home, no silencers were found BUT Linda brings them in to court and said they were in her safe all along.

For her to say she has no involment. The 3 situations above are proof she knew he was going to kill Mark and hid evidence.

Generally, from my observations - Dateline is a sausage factory - and their goal is to get the story out first. 48 tends to dig much deeper, get more sources, take more time, and get it right. 48 tries to let the people involved tell the story as opposed to Dateline telling you what happened, almost talking down to you on the lowest common denominator. Dateline appeals to a certain class of people. I don't happen to be one of them.

this is a very interesting tragic story, and was also just recently featured on msnbc's Dateline if you want to watch it there as well. why do these mystery shows retell the same stories, just wondering
