Billy Walters has been making huge arbitrage plays for years and only a select few like Coopers Pick has the discipline to actually take the right bets at the right time to consistently win year in and year out the problem with gambling is that its impulsive and you can't undo anything thats been done.

Brilliant. However he lost $250 000 on that Packers game. Aaron Rodgers got concussed in the 2nd quarter and missed the rest of the game and Detroit came away with the upset.

Read "The Smart Money" by M Konik... Bascially the real low down on undercover inside an operation like Billys. Remember all his runners who place bets for him will be banned from certain sportsbooks if they know they are placing bets for Billy, if they are winning. They're are maximum bets at casinos like 20-30k. And the average joe will never avg win percentage of 60%, which is what you need to breakeven.

I thought the story was great! Just goes to show that capitalism IS alive and well...with hard work and motivation, we can all be successful at whatever it is we are passionate about. I wonder if Mr Walters is pushing to legalize gambling in the US?

Billy Walters seems like a genuinely nice guy - if one can tell that sort of thing by watching a 12 minute segment on 60 Minutes! I found his disdain for Wall Street especially compelling; he's so right. Who'd have ever thought gambling would be a more honorable profession than being a stock analyst!

I must confess, when I heard the numbers on his casual golf bets it made me a little crazy. (Okay, a LOT crazy!) He was up $17,000 after 3 holes. Holy smokes! All I could think about was if I had this man's talent I could play 2 rounds of golf and my son could go to college for 4 years. It's truly amazing to learn how much money someone can make in a matter of hours on the golf course playing for fun and betting with a friend. (Kind of depressing, actually.)

It was a great segment - it's always encouraging to see nice guys become so successful; there doesn't seem to be much of that going around these days!

What happened to Billy Walters essentially happened to me. I was swindled out of money in an online casino investment and had my business go under as a result of theft. All I had was a book on horseplaying (handicapping) from years ago. So I decided to take up horseplaying again and gambling, at least professional gambling; and like Walter says '(professional) gambling isn't that bad'. It's hard but you can learn how to manage your money and improve your game to the point of depending on it for some source of income.

When you think about it, the gaming industry does help the economy. In horseracing, there are over 200 tracks in North America and each one has a pick 6 winner almost every day. The average P6 payout is $100,000. So 200 people every day are collecting $100,000 in P6 payouts; and not all professional gamblers...some just get lucky.
