Found! Ted Kennedy's greatest political achievement is discovered after his death. Jimmy Carter claims Kennedy did not want to see success within the Carter Term. If true, no one can claim a bigger political victory. I thought it was Carter's incompetence and liberalism that made his term the worst (actually now second worst) in modern Presidential history. I guess I am wrong, it was Teddy's drunken genious that made the Carter years so bad. Is it Teddy's ghost that is working the same magic on our current failure in the Office?

Leslie Stahl was an embarrassment in the interview with President Carter. What experience does she have that allows her to criticize a former President who has significant issues to decide? I recently commented to a co-worker that I wondered why any former President remains pro-US. We are abusive, demanding and negative, have no regard for the difficulty of the position or the issues they encounter. Yet we blame that one person for every problem that has occurred in the last 50 years. We are never happy, never willing to give a new President the support they require to become effective. Every president is in office because he was elected by the majority - give them a chance! - regardless of their politics - and get off your high-horse. As "they" say, if you aren't part of the solution, you must be part of the problem.

Leslie Stahl was combative in this interview. And given Carter's (over-the-top) honesty, it just wasn't necessary for her to be so disrespectful.

Teddy, from a family of drug addicts, hitler lovers, rapists and adulterers, was a murderer who collaborated with the russians in the 1990's to undermine the US. Who cares if he stuck a knife in Carters plans, that's small stuff!

I still think wars should begin with Politicians of-age children being taken first, then the Politicians, On a glbal scale! Then we'll see how many wars are started. Sad thing is, most of,if not all off the Mid. Eastern higher ups WOULD send thier's. Sadly most of our Politicians have never served in the military, and have raised thier children to follow thier "lead" .

I would be willing to wager Carter thinks that Obama's presidency now being compared with his is a compliment.

I was stationed in Taiwan during Carter's term in office. Despite Carter's former military service, despite his being the Commander-In-Chief of the armed forces, he gave no warning, absolutely no warning, to the military personnel in Taiwan when he normalized relations with "Red China". Having almost be killed in the riots that followed, I know. I was lucky. That's when I realized service members get lip service for serving their country. Despite that, I have to agree with his opinion of "Teddy". It is little known, but "Ted" also blocked President Richard Nixon's national health care bill. Looks like "Ted" wanted health care, but only if the world applauded Him as the Savior. Maybe we would have benefited more if Mary Jo Kopechne had been the only survivor.

As I recall, Jimmy Carter showed guts and tried to send Special Forces to rescue the hostages instead of negotiating with scumbags. The helicopters crashed en route because sand caused engine failure. That became Carter's fault too. At least his strategy was bold and showed faith in our military. Reagan sent Bud McFarlan to the Ayatollah literally with a birthday cake in hand and the promise to deliver HAWK missiles. That's how the hostages were released. Birthday cake and HAWK missiles for the enemy. I think Carter sending special forces is a hell of alot more American and Presidential and proper than kissing the the Ayatollah's behind and arming him with heavy weaponry. If the special forces succeeded, which I'll bet they would have on any other day, Carter would have won re-election and been forever a hero.

Mr. Carter continues to live in the twilight zone, a man who does no wrong, takes zero blame for any failures and passes the buck to others. At least Ted Kenedy never left out troops in Tehran, Iran and the reason we are dealing with Americas greatest threat today, the Muslim revolution spawned in Iran. Carter was an American presidential failure and Obamma in 2 years might eclispe this hall of shame.
