Andrew, just like you, I don't know who she is and I suspect that I don't want to know. Knowing some of the newer performers will probablu gag me. Ella or Patsi will do just fine for me.

According to data compiled by Nielsen SoundScan, from 2000 to 2009 album sales declined 52%. From 2008 to 2009, the decline was 12.7%. The stuff the music industry cranks out is junk that people don't want. The names aren't worth knowing.

Today's vocalists are, often, only as good as good as their amplifying equipment. Turn of the power and the are mute!

Okay Andy, Please, don't tell me you're not familiar with Susan Boyle? Try out her first album. Maybe I'm only fifty, but there's a lot of good music out there. You might like Fleet Foxes and they're a relatively new band. You're in a rut Andy, expand your horizons...you might have to work at it in the beginning, since you're out of practice....but Susan Boyle alone is worth breaking new ground. Listen to "Daydream Believer" and become one.

I am 23, and I listen to and have an appreciation for a wide range of music from classical to rock to jazz to country and bluegrass to pop and hip hop. Yes, both Ella Fitzgerald and Lady Gaga are on my iPod. I understand that everyone has different tastes, but to write off a genre of music or refuse to listen to new music is to deprive yourself of what could be a rewarding experience. Andy needs to stop using his age as an excuse and try to gain an appreciation for new things. And Lady Gaga isn't even new. Her first chart-topping album was released just over two years ago.

I maybe only 45 years old but I dont like the music that most Americans listen to these days and yes I don't who Laday Gaga is either. On the other hand I do know songs and singers like Bing Crosby "White Christmas" Dean Martin Glen Miller and "Moon River" sung by L. Armstrong. I gues a few of us like Mr. Rooney are stuck in our own ways and will never change and keep disagreeing with what is going on in this Mad Mad Mad World but in my book that is a good thing.

I'm younger than Andy but also don't recognize current music, although I do like Five For Fighting and Matchbox Twenty. I also think Martina McBride's version of 'God Bless America' is better than Kate Smith's; something Andy may disagree with.

The only music that will live on forever is classical, something the Beatles used well, changing Bach, Beethoven and Mozart notes around to form a pop song (which was perfectly legal; in fact, if a composition is fifty years or older, the music can be re-set to lyrics).

The last living 'TRUE' classical composer was Rachmonanoff, unless you consider Philip Glass and George/Ira Gershwin classical.

It was another fine piece of work by Andy. I'm only 68, but I guess I'll grow to be a grumpy old man like him - and enjoy doing it!
