If coal ash is safe to spread under a golf course or be used in carpets, why are the residents of Kingston, Tenn., being told to stay out of a river where the material was spilled? Lesley Stahl reports. Sunday, Aug. 15, 7 p.m. ET/PT.

Take Action! Ccomment on Environmental Protection Agency Coal Waste regulations -- support the regulation of toxic coal waste and keep it out of our building materials, fields, and cosmetics:

Shockingly, in spite of the EPA Administrator's statements that we have gotten where we are because of a lack of regulation, the proposed EPA regulations fail to regulate the sham recycling of this hazardous waste into products.

Dear Ms. Lesley Stahl,

Have you heard of Auto Fluff and what happens to all the regrind auto after metal is removed. It becomes auto fluff. I live in Adrian Michigan . Republic Services landfill uses this auto fluff as ground cover. There are 20 homes including mine who lives 800 feet from this landfill. This landfill is in our backyard. The state of California considers this auto fluff as toxic. Is it?? People living near landfills that use this as ground cover being exposed to toxics? Why is there no federal regulations on landfills? Why are so many landfills built in a populated area? A researcher from Toledo Spain came to the University of Michigan to study our landfills and asked that question.
I have not heard of coal ash but have you heard of auto fluff? I have not till I started smelling the odor and Pat Brennan from our state DEQ came and told me that maybe I was smelling auto fluff. It burns my nose and makes if very hard to breathe. He took a sample and been two weeks have not heard if he tested it , if the state is going to allow them to continue using this auto fluff , or if there has been exposure to toxins. Is this a story for you to consider Auto Fluff what is it?
Thank you

Thank you for covering the U.S. policy on flyash. Maybe 60 Minutes can do a great deal to move the EPA towards the responsible decision to regulate this hazardous waste. Many of us in Giles County, VA will be watching your news story Sunday as flyash was dumped on our riverbed in a flood plain all under the guise of our government's "beneficial use" clause. Thanks for exposing the problems.
