Should there be a "no smart drugs" pledge for college students? Katie Couric discussed the issue with a group of undergrads at the University of Kentucky, some of whom have tried the drugs while some have not. Plus, UPenn Bioethics Professor Dr. Arthur Caplan tells Katie Couric why college administrators are ignoring Adderall use.

My daughter was on Adderall for three years and was a straight A honor student. Then she hit puberty and ended up in the hospital with a complete breakdown. I thought that we were the exception, but I have found that there are many many students, especially girls, that after taking Aderall for several years have emotional and mental breakdowns. Basically the sleep deviation and constant stimulation will breakdown the young mind after years to a point that it will just barely function any more. Please look into this side of these drugs and report what is happening. There are many studies on this problem, but of course the drug companies do not want you to talk about those. My daughter was hospitalized for over 145 days and at this point she can not function academically without some sort of ADHD med. Please do not be one sided in your reporting.

"Adderall doesn't help you understand derivatives." And PED's don't help you hit a baseball, says Mark McGuire. They're both right, but let's not kid ourselves that the taking of these two drugs isn't the same act of insecurity-fueled, massive performance enhancement.

I have been working in the addiction field for fifteen years and was shocked by your bias presentation on Adderall last night. I always thought 60 minutes was a great investigative reporting magazine show but there was no mention of those kids ending up in detox or rehab where I see them when they start circling the drain.
I worked with the entitled and rich kids in LA where adderrol is common place and believe me it is a highly addictive drug. Its amphetamine salts for God's sake. Do your job. So disappointed in Katie Couric. You should do a follow up segment to show the progression when someone prone to addiction uses it for a while.
You lost a few fans last night with that episode.

White kids take drugs and go to the head of the class or Harvard. Black kids take drugs and go to prison. How sad. Only in America!
