I got my degree in Fisheries and Wildlife Biology. While sharks are not my forte, there are some general wildlife biology rules that apply. Just one of them is do not take chances with large, wild, predators! There is certainly important data that can be gleaned from tagging, tracking, capture, recapture of great whites and other species of sharks. Photographing them in their environment has value also. I see no reason to go into the water with them without adequate precautions! All we get from that is this guy's anectdotal opinions about shark behavior.
You've heard of the Darwin awards? In wildlife biology we now have the Steve Irwin award, and this guy is a potential winner.

There is much to be said for understanding the Great Nature Balance and to learn to react in respect for these predetermind "rules" of Nature. The fear our media generates must not be a mail catalyst for how we react to our planet's principals.

I applaud pioneers in the world of understanding (the forces of nature) like Mike Rutzen and Anderson Cooper.
