Katie made more sense than this author, he's a laughing stock , if there ever was one.
Most people know why Bush created the two wars and it wasn't to help our country or the iraqies or the people in Afghanistan. It was for their resources, to benifit his and Cheney wealth. And they accumulated quite bit of it from oil and drug traffling.

Response To "Katie Couric talks with "Hot, Flat and Crowded" author, and New York Times columnist Tom Friedman about President Obama's war plan in Afghanistan"

As an American citizen and as a African American with a unique life experience in this great country, I must say that journalist such as TOM Friedman have betrayed the American public with such dishonesty, In listening to the interview with CBS Anchor Katie Curic it is unbelievable that these individuals have such towering influence over American political leaders and the public with their selfish and blind misguided input (unfortunately FOREIGN POLICY influence).

The leaders of this country must stand up and be men & women and not children of another people if we fail to do this it will be our ultimate disgrace, the greatest threat to this noble nation of ours comes from not only the enemy from with out but our so called friends from with in.

Katie you ask just the right questions. Your questions about Iraq reflect mine. Friedman is wrong on the premise that Sadam made himself available. It was the oil and the desire to reshuffle the status quoa that induced the excuses to invade Iraq.
Making Iraq a model other countries would envy was not the long term goal at the start, it only developed as a cover as the lies started to be uncovered. We need to keep the timetable accurate since the revisionists are already trying to change the story. In truth it is questionable as to how the changes and improvements will be sustainable after we give up control.
The focus on Afghanistan and Pakistan was lost but hopefully back on track now. I suspect Obama has had a realization that Afghan government is not going to be a protector of peace once we clear out the Taliban. We have to wipe out the movement if we want a sustained solution.
In regard to Pakistan, it can not be separated from Afghanistan in regard to the Taliban Since the Taliban does not care to limit itself to political boundaries.

TF is a good writer and I enjoy reading of his wishful thinking but like Ayn Rand's writing we have to realize it is only fiction and enjoy it for what it is.

I was not educated in the interview but I was intrigued.

I rate it 4 Bars of Dove. It was three but one was added since I appreciate a good line of double-talk without being bothered with a decisive answer.

cultivating, "Wow, Great interveiw Katie?" All Katie has done is repeat the long list of ignorant cliches from the MoveOn.org-HuffingtonPot-MichaelMoore-crowd about Iraq! At one point she defends her self against Tom by saying "I'm just presenting the other side". She is the other side! Tom Friedman's effort at trying to educate her are not too bad. But he still misses some points of why we went to Iraq, or is just trying to throw he a liberal bone!
