I'm an immigrant. I don't mind the questions being asked. I've had worse. The problem I see is the how the USCIS selectively favors other candidates. My mom was asked multiple questions before being naturalized. But the Chinese guy behind her was only ask to write down his name in English. That was his exam prior to becoming US citizen. Is it because that guy came from a powerful nation and my mom came from a 3rd world country?

I shared your thoughts on the Immigration Test with my American Government students (11th & 12th graders)....they wanted to add to your list: be on Facebook, explain the meaning of the Pledge of Allegiance, demonstrate the correct way to eat an Oreo Cookie--twist, pull, lick, and dip, name all 50 states (preferably to music), have a positive attitude, know how to balance a checking account, identify what KFC stands for, explain why you want to be an American, know how to bargain shop, understand the rules of football, and demonstrate how to make s'mores. Interesting perspective....

Kendallmorse - Are you a complete nut? Blaming the health care issue on the right wing is like blaming GWB for everything else. My experience is a bit different, I'm fully employed and have good insurance. Seems like the only part that needs fixing is for those that fell through the cracks, but not the entire system. Neighbors of mine bring in their relatives from Australia, etc. to undergo some surgeries they would have to wait for in other countries. Seems like I'm not nearly as hostile as you are, and don't think the Government should be our used for so much of our lives, it's a trend that I just don't like.

I agree with Andy Rooney about 90% of the time, but when you say that everyone wants to come to the USA, that is simply not true. No doubt there are many who want to come and for one reason or another are not able to, but the fact is MOST people do NOT want to come here.
My wife emmigrated from England to marry me, and we have friends there who would like to come here but will not because of the awful health care system we have. They know the truth about their system and they know it is far superior to ours.
She is also appalled at the lies the right wing is spreading about the national health care system in the UK.

Dear Mr. Rooney,

In the Saturday, November 14th issue of The Washington Post on the front page in the article "The Chinese are 'changing us'" it was written,"A team of Midwestern businessmen, including the former CIA station chief in Beijing, has recently established, in cooperation with the Department of Homeland Security, a special zone in Wisconsin that would grant U.S. citizenship in exchange for a $1 million investment."
I was not at all happy about this revelation because it is completely unfair to the people who are trying to get in according to our immigration laws and worse, it once again gives an example of how the United States government favors wealth over fairness and justice.
I hope you will expose this wrong on your show which I watch with regularity.

Very Sincerely,

Bessie S. Hill

Are you speaking to Idiots? Google Immigration test questions to see that there are choices. Not many people will do that; but prefer to listen to YOU. AND YOU PROMOTE CONDEMMING THE U S SYSTEM. WHAT HAPPENED? My parents were immigrants-FOLLOWED THE RULES--BECAME CITIZENS-ARE YOU PROMOTING AMNESTY?

Here's another one: Do you promise to leave behand any and all cultural or religion-based traditions that conflict with American law and civil liberties. For example, do you promise not to get into your Jeep and run over your daughter because she adopted the very lifestyle that you chose to move her into? Anyone who cannot pass a lie-detector test for this, should be courteously shown the door. Aferall, we have enough of our own home-grown nut jobs to watch over without opening the gates to millions more.

Andy, I can answer all of the questions in the old test, and all of the questions of the new test (James Madison is the answer for both). As for your test, which is great....I know the first two but
I don't know who won the Super Bowl, I don't think it was the Yankees.

Just add the phrase "in English" to the end of each requirement.

Mr Rooney, I truely agreed with your view of the test that should be taken to become a member of this wonderful country. You however, failed to stipulate, that EVERYONE who wishes to make this country home, should have a working command of the english language. I did.

Andy, I can do the first three, but I'm afraid I don't know who won the Super Bowl! Ask me about the NBA best (Lakers) or baseball's best, (Yankees)Should I pack my bags? LOL
