The world is full of people who don't agree.. that's how war starts.. would the world be better if there weren't any wars and people who don't get along just went around committing crimes against each other.. that would be a very ugly world..

It is extremely difficult to reconcile this Rooney moralistic diatribe with Rooney's militant, adamant, obsessed, neurotic flag-waving SUPPORT FOR the Iraq War, which was the most pointless, unwarranted, irrelevant, unnecessary war in U.S. history. But Rooney let himself get caught-up in the gung-ho, flag-waving psychotic post-9-11 pro-war hysteria that launched us into an irrelevant war that had absolutely nothing to do with Al Quida, global terrorism or the events of 9-11. If only Rooney had had this sky-opening eureka WHEN IT REALLY MATTERED, before the Iraq War. But then again, pro-war hysteria was popular back then, and now, the peace-nic "let's get out of Afghanistan" refrain is growing in popularity. Like a chameleon, Rooney follows what is popular. There's no insight or foresight involved here. Rooney just follows the applause. And the bitter irony is that the Rooneys in this country had us fight the WRONG WAR, while now shrinking from waging the 'real' war -- the important, vitally necessary war where al Quida has entrenched itself in a safe haven for perpetuating global terrorism.

Dear Mr. Looney.

My name is Tou Thao and I am here to tell you that I am 100% agreed with you on your comment on war. Back home where I cam from before 1975 my father was a SGU for the US CIA to fight against the North Vietnamese in Laos. My father joined the SGU in 1962 and stayed with it to the end in 1975 that we lost the war to the Communist Norht Vietnam. At one point he almost lost his life because of the fight with those Communist Soldier. He said that there is nothing good in war. All they do is killing each other day after day, month after month. After listening to him for years and watched him for years I agreed that in this world we human have a better way to solve problem than going to war and killing each other. What I don't understand is that why there are some human being out there that seams to enjoy killing others. Killing would never bring human to peace. Negotiation should be the thing we human use toward each other. We know for fact that there are things we disagree and agree but it doesn't have to end up going to war. We shall take our men and women to to war only if we have to. Not just because we want to. Thank you. God bless..

Dear Sir,
My name is Mulzim R. Fidai; I am a former Marine combat veteran of the Vietnam conflict. I have spent 13 months in that jungle fighting and bleeding in that mess with individuals I knew and didn?t know. I suffer from PTSD combat related; I am 100 per cent disable because of that. I am 64 yrs. Old and I am still a mess because of it. War is more than hell; I am in my third marriage, I am somewhat estranged from my children who are grown now. I still can?t be around a lot of people I don?t trust and among other things I don?t sleep well at night.
I saw and heard your comment about war, and would like to say that I agree with you and your comments. I am willing to bet, and I am not a betting man that most of the negative comments came from people who have no idea what it is like to be in that kind of a situation which many like you and I have experienced. They have no idea just what combat Vets are going through. They should ask them. What I really want to tell you is that I appreciate you for you just being you. May God continue to Bless and reward you with the courage of your convictions and much more. Peace

Thank you for your comments about war. I do not believe that it is possible to win a war. Once a person or other living thing is hurt, destroyed, or there is loss of life, all humanity looses. We have been led to believe throughout our history that you can win something in a conflict between to people, parties, nations. There is only a loss of life and resouces by all when we engage in war. When will we learn?

I think some of you did't take your mental stability pills.any one who has been in a frontline war knows that war is not a fun place except cowards who want other ppls men & women to die for there stupid ideology.FREEDOM?what freedom was in danger when we invaded vietnam or iraq.to nuke japan, yes that was a legitimate because they attacked us.to invade afghanistan, yes because they had a guest who was behind the sep 11 attacks.you guys need to understand the wars of necessity and the wars of political choices. THANKS TO ANDY ROONEY.you r a true patriot.

Dear Andy,
You hit the old nail right on the head! It's too bad some comments are so emotionally ginned up they missed the point of what you were saying.
I'm a veteran and take no offense whatsoever to what you said. If more people had the courage to speak likewise this would be a better world.
I wish we had no more veterans. I wish all these young people who now join the military in part because they want to serve America had other ways, like the CCC, that they could do it. Maybe we wouldn't be invading so many places if those other choices existed and were funded properly.
One more thing to some of the writers here who got so nasty and vitriolic: have you been in the military? Did you by any chance serve in combat or work in a military hospital during a war? Well, I did. I've seen too much blood and suffering to think there's any glory in war.

WHAT A IDIOT! I am appaled that you would discredit our Veterans. ALL veterens and soilders currently protecting our lives and country DESERVE to be honered. Sure we would all like to see our soilders home and not fighting in a war. But sometime we must make the sacrifice for for our freedom. Veterans had the courage and love for this country and fought for the freedoms that you and I both enjoy today. You have offended a lot of veterans today - It's time to take you off the air! Shame on you.
