This looks like a case of someone with a stronger mind influencing another of a weaker mind through the power of suggestion. It's a mind game like hypnotism practiced by one to deceive the other into thinking it was her idea to do what the other wanted her to do.

My heart goes out to the family...I was in so love with my husband he could have brain washed me if he were that kind of person. This is a sad story...
