I dont get it. Why did he marry Faylene again if he wanted to marry Hillary. It seems like Faylene had some kind of psychotic disorder.

Why do such wonderful women go for such creepy men? He strikes me as a self-centered weakling, having affairs. He probably did kill Faylene. Maybe he had convinced himself that she wanted to die, and so it didn't seem so bad to him to help her do it. I don't think the second wife was part of the crime. She seems like a good, solid, strong person. But she should beware because for cheaters like her husband, it doesn't matter if there is a beautiful wife at home. It's all about their ego and getting what they want in the moment. That marriage will not last, sadly for the children.

It's always the kids that have to put up with the bad behavior of the adults, as their lives are destroyed. Jenna, sweetie, you'll see your Mom again. Do her proud in this life! And you won't have to put up with him in the next life because he's probably going to be somewhere else.

did anyone notice that excerpt from Faylene's journal at 27:06 where she wrote: "At first I didn't know if I was given the choice, if I'd choose to go or to stay because I've always thought how great the other side must be, but I NEVER though I'd be there YOUNG!!!" If she didn't think she'd be there young, then that means she intended to live a long life, not take her life. Then she wrote further down: "I love my life SO much now here that I don't want to go!" Even if she was suicidal, she was open about it and was getting help for it. That's not a person who is giving up, that's a person who is seeking out support and trying to overcome her issues so she can live. I think that her husband just saw her emotional turmoil as a way to easily kill her without anyone questioning it. I think he's quite guilty. From experience I've known friends who survived after attempting suicide. The attempt itself was the first time any of the family or friend knew that there was any problem or that those thoughts were in mind. If a person is hell bent to take their own life, they won't tell anyone; they'll just do it. If a person wants to live, wants help, they make their suicidal thoughts known. Faylene made her thoughts known. She didn't want to die. She just wanted help.

At the end Hillary says"Her dear friend Faylene". Her dear friend who's husband she was sleeping with and wanted for herself! I thought Hillary and Doug were both complete scumbags and not really believable. If this woman wrote so many notes saying she was gonna kill herself, wouldn't u think when she finally decides to do it she would LEAVE A SUICIDE NOTE!? I mean if that was her behavior, why no last note or journal before she does it?? Because her scumbag husband murdered her. Why was it only Dougs sister and NO JOURNAL about how god told her to divorce him the first time? Or maybe she just caught him in one of his previous affairs?? Hillary wasn't his first side piece and she's an idiot if she thinks she will be the last. Plenty of people divorce and then de cide to try again for love or their children. You would think as much as she wrote about her life she would have written about god speaking to her or writing a suicide note.

Wow, the jury failed.
"Manslaughter" because they "felt like it", I saw no cumulative evidence which could approach reasonable doubt.
The lady Fayleen was, quite frankly, a bit strange and clearly suicidal. Sadly, she seems to have instilled some evil demons in her daughter as well.
Unless we missed some significant evidence, justice not served here.

Also, (sorry again) the jurors said they "felt" he did something but couldn't prove murder, so they "compromised" on manslaughter, said it was their "fallback"?? If I was in Doug's family and heard that, I would be furious.

Also, again another case of police losing key evidence. Get it together already.

oh my god hillary is an awful person! i would never be invovled with a married woman's husband who was also suicidal that totally pushed her to do it! she was your friend really? then if she was so suicidal why wasnt she committed by yourself or doug she definitely needed an intervention. it seems to me your cheerleaded her on by parading the affair and your confidence in her face. honey you may not get judged in this world but believe you me god made faylene and even if what happened to her is okay with her you STILL have to answer to Him. If i were you i'd pray for my damned soul every waking hour of everyday. God bless you faylene may peace be upon you.

One thing about this case, Faylene was a breath-takingly beautiful woman. Holy mackerel, she was stunning.

Regarding Doug, yeah, pretty much a sleazeball--his testimony reminded me of Lyle Menendez's--but I didn't see anything near meeting the burden.

I also don't appreciate the snarky, b**** reporter mocking Faylene's faith: "God told her to . . ."
