This is indeed shameful and immoral story -- UCLA should loose their right to do all transplant services, the FBI and the US government should pay damages to those of us who have had to wait, or even died while waiting for a transplant, even those currently waiting for a transplant have clearly been damaged by this report and the actions by those involved. This situation puts a huge question mark on how fairly organs are being actually allotted in the United States.

How do we known this apparent interference by the FBI and possibly other governmental agencies isn't continuing to this date?

Where was UNOS whose task is indeed to oversee the national database of clinical transplant information and operates the computerized organ sharing system, matching donated organs to ... Apparently they must have been over ruled or taken out of the loop.

What was UNOS, the FBI's and our government's involvement in this?

Hopefully, all in our transplant community will speak out on this !!!!

Clearly people waiting for transplants place their life in the hands of others, such as their doctors, hospitals, insurance companies, Unos and the government to act in their behalf. This trust is seriously placed into question now. I wonder what the organ donor's family is thinking in this case, if they knew their loved ones organ whet to a Japan's mafia individual. Perhaps they got a check as well, but that would be illegal wouldn't it?

Those of us who are organ donors (including myself) should consider opting out of the program. If it happened once. it will definitely happen again. Another good thing gone to Hell for the almighty buck.

Thanks for this excellent report from the reporter in Japan. He is one couragous man. I respect him more than any reporter EVER.

I definately will NOT be an organ donor. This confirmed my suspicians that the rich will just buy my healthy heart or liver or kidney. Money truely is the root of all evil.

Seems that evil people are simply getting smarter and smarter. And you can bet your bottom dollar that those Samauri NEVER donate THEIR organs!!

Money talks and B.S. walks. How could our nations top law enforcement agency sacrifice American citizens for foreign criminals? The head of the FBI needs to resign over this egregious and heinous act.

Sixty Minutes, you have just lost a long-time viewer. For you not to have blipped out the blasphemy of God's name by Applestein, reveals that it is unimportant to you Producers as well. What has happened to the Hebrew revererance of that name? I bet you wouldn't dare allow that done to the name of Allah. You would have been in trouble with the Muslims. Now, you're "only" in trouble with the One who said "Do not misuse the name of the Lord your God. The Lord will not let you go unpunished if you misuse his name."

Having lost a 39 year brother in law, with a 2 year old, last year waiting for a liver transplant. I am disgusted. UCLA and the FBI should be ashamed of themselves.

Why is it that this reporter chooses to remain in Japan rather than coming back to the U.S. with his family????

So in FBI 101 they don't teach you to get the desired information up front? I can't believe they let them into our county only to buy a liver transplant that should have gone to a more deserving American citizen. I hate that this makes me think twice about being an organ donor.
