If McChrystal is "sensitive" enough to fly the flags at full mast he most certainly must have realized what he was doing in his reply about talking to the President. He could easily have continued and explained that his chain of commend is through two other military commanders plus the Secretary of Defense. He went mute at an unusual time. I certainly seemed as though his sudden terseness was accidental.

Video not viewable on Cbsnews.com : I have been trying for hours to view the 60 minutes McChrystal interview. The video function is not working. **I am able to watch video everywhere else, can somebody at CBS please fix this? Also, why isn't CBS monitoring its services?

Gen. Stanley McChrystal, America's military commander in Afghanistan, tells David Martin the spread of violence in that country is worse than he expected..............!!!????!!!!!!!!
What kind of military is there with this kind of commentary?
What kind of military is there because there is not war different in the dangerous situation for a pure military? Maybe these American military have forgotten the war against Russia few years ago?
Until now, in the last 10 years all war give the feeling that these people sent there were not soldier or real military but a group of high schools young without the idea about what it is to be soldier but believing that they will go somewhere and scream: I am American tremble the world?.. Stupid!!
The war in Afghanistan is only a money throw the mountains and the killing our young without a profession. Stop this war or we will be in another Vietnam.
Please Mr. President Stop this war immediately.

It is a much different perspective for most American's than it is for military personnel and their families. When there are not enough supplies or support systems in place to win, throwing more people at it won't help the situtaion. Just like supplies without people to use them won't help. If the government is going to continue with the war it needs to be fully supported, fully supplied and fully staffed in the proper ratio. And government doesn't know what that is. The people fighting on the ground and in the air do and should be listened to regardless of Obama's personal agenda. I swear sometimes he watched the Tom Hanks movie before he campaigned and just thought, "I'll send kids back ther like the movie" but doesn't have a clue what it means.

War is not to be approached from a political viewpoint of "let's see if they can make do with just enough cause what they need is expensive". War is expensive in finanacial and human capital. Either be prepared to spend it or bring ALL of our children home.

When our Marines and Corpsmen are fighting for their lives and request air/artillery support, it MUST HAPPEN! Women and children who are resupplying the enemy are no longer innocent-they are the enemy. It's already been mentioned about the 3 Marines and Corpsman recently killed. They were denied what they asked for-HELP! I'm sorry General, if this is your policy you must resign then tell the nation why. You cannot sleep well adhering to this policy. These Marines, all of our fighting men and women, MUST HAVE EVERY CHANCE TO LIVE. If the orders are from "The Top", he must go too. I will not ALLOW my boy to die due to irresponsible, incomprehensible ROE's! Do you hear us DC? It's not just me. We Will literally grab our children by the neck and tell them "You're not going." I dare our "government" to prosecute. Fight to WIN or get out. I will not see another WALL with 58,000 names on it. I will not.

i seem to remember general westmorland say the same about a place called vietnam. its always a surprise to me that many of the military leaders of today fought as young officers in southeast asia, and yet have learned nothing. we have the strongest most advanced military in the world, and we can win every battle, but we will lose every war when we fight for empire. The price of empire is terrorism. One of the greatest delusions in america is the hope that the evils in this world will be cured by military intervention. we have become a nation of eternal war....

He needs to use lethal force AND protect the Afghan people, a daunting task. The Pentagon has weapons we don't even know about that need to be "tested." The citizens need to be taught to distance themselves from the bad guys who have to be overcome with fear. Actionable intelligence has to be flawless, and I commend him for canceling missions that could cause collateral damage.

To my mind Gen. Mcrystal being the man on the field, ought to be listen to when he says that he needs more troops in Afghanistan to implement the strategy of wining the trust of the Afghans.
With the Afghan people on our side its a piece of cake.
