I completely agree, parents have the power to "help" make or break the mold. I am a parent of one of the children who was interviewed. It was my daughters first year at Camp Shane. When we dropped her off, one of the thoughts my husband and I had was exactly that. There were MANY obese parents, and we met overweight others that were attending their umpth year. We were concerned that she would not receive the help she was looking for. Shes been home a week, shes gained weight, but all the same, has re-established herself and is back to her schedule. We've been AMAZED, and I mean truly AMAZED at the amount of information she has received and embraced. She is eating everything healthy that she would not touch before. All her friends are twiggy thin, so even though she would eat Subway w/ water when they ate McDonalds, she still gained. She realized without any help from us, she still needed to do her daily workouts. I AM SO PROUD!!! When anyone really wants something, they WILL set out to do what they're motivated to do. My daughter also has a brother who can eat what he wants as well, we are a family that enjoys food. I can't imagine that the over-weight parents wouldn't support their children when they got home. Its not like its something I can afford. As much as I wish I could send her back next year, I'm at least overjoyed that she found the inner strength and motivation she was looking for. "Yea Noelle!!!<3 21 lbs. and ???? Woot Woot!"

Great story. Now if they could get the parents involved who paid the money to send them there that would be good. Like the one girl who said her mom bought all kinds of junk food for the "skinny" brother. Parents are the ones who normally provide food for the home so they should be accountable as well.
