In respect to your first comment, it is quite common to counter overwhelming grief with levity. Read any basic psychology book.

In regard to your second comment, well done on your seventh grade litterary imagery. Your speculation as to whether Erin's father is somehow to blame for her step mom's downward spiral into depression is just that..speculation. Many times people suffering from sever depression and drug and alcohol abuse will often hide their suffering from their spouses and redirect their self loathing and frustration on those around them. Perhaps the step mom's abuse of the children was a reflection of this an perhaps the father was trying to mende the troubled relationships but didn't want to interject himself too far into the relationship dynamic of the mother and children due to the typical fear of overstepping one's bounds in parenting children who are not biologically connected. But as with your comments, this too is speculation.

Your last comment is utter nonesense. Read the childrens' testimonies.

"On that day he had been killed, I couldn't believe it..." followed by laughter.

What a scrambled, mixed-up omelet here, all burned and singed from every side, with everyone accusing everyone, brother, sister, stepsister, an abusive stepmother who committed suicide and a perfect father who seemed to never have noticed his wife's child abuse...nothing was mentioned anywhere on how or if he got her help for her serious depression.

What if the lovely daughter, Erin, is the one who really planned the murder of her father? Who, if everyone seems to be saying that her stepsister and stepbrother showed inappropriate emotion in reaction to their stepfather's death, could show more "inappropriate reaction" than not postponing his or her wedding on or the day after his or her father died. A lot of money must have been involved here. I hope the authorities will at least take a look at a possible "Erin connection."
