I wonder what ended up happening to the number 1 and 2 students in her class who were not given the opportunity to go to Princeton so someone who was less qualified but was of the correct gender and race could be given preference. What ever happened to equality and justice for all, including men? I am sure as a justice she will make sure that this injustice continues long into the future of this country. Affirmative action is certainly a nice way of saying raw discrimination against people with higher qualifications. At one time this was actually illegal in this country, now it is mandated.

So if we want to make things 100% fair and take away affirmative action because it's discrimination against white people then why not those white people pay back reparations to black people for bringing them against their will as slaves then as second class citizens banning them from white only areas. If you want to make things fair ? While you're at it why not reparations to the Asians put into concentration camps during world war 2. If you want to make things fair ? For every 100 successful white people in America I'd guess 20 are minorities. Majority of minorities are born in the environment as Sonia was and with influences from culture and friends and family etc could never imagine let alone have the drive to be the ultimate in success. White people, don't get butt hurt that everything isn't fair to everyone, it's called life =)

Supreme Court justices should be seen, but not heard. Is this going to be the new thing, celebrity justices? book signings? court-side at NBA games?

Great job Pelley.
You avoided any of Sotomayor's controversial statements.
She is obviously a bigoted person full of hatred for anyone who is not a female or a member of a racial minority.

I am so very PROUD of Sonia from the Bronxs; Not only is she gifted, smart and intellectural; if she was not a Person of Color, she would have gotten into ANY TOP University with ease; her GRADES made it so and possible!

and its so very true, People of Color MUST OUT PERFORM Whites 5 to their 1.

Especially when you observe a GW Bush President of these United States, when he was not qualifed to be over a Dog Pound!

To be a good judge one must be able to see both sides of the issue. This judge is dominated by her experiences and is unable and unwilling to understand what it is to be passed up for reasons that you have no control of. The constitution says race, creed, color, gender can not be used against you but that is exactly what minority preferences do.

The high school nurse that told US Supreme Court Justice Sotomayor why she was picked for the University scholarship was I believe jealous of her! Some people think that if you are a certain ethnic that you do not fit into a certain profession. I was a barber and somehow through persistence got into another profession . I made a 30 year career out of a major corporation (ATT) to the surprise of everyone.
Persistence is the key to to achieving your goals to better yourself!

Why is everybody hung up the fact that Sotomayor is Puerto Rican and had some help getting into college? Don't forget that Clarence Thomas benefited from affirmative action and now rallies the troops against it. That is pure hypocrisy. "As an undergraduate at Holy Cross College, Thomas received a scholarship set aside for racial minorities. He was admitted to Yale Law School in 1971 as part of an aggressive (and successful) affirmative action program with a clear goal: 10 percent minority enrollment. Yale offered him generous financial aid." Sotomayor is on the right side of rationality, especially on the corporate personhood issue. That is what matters.
