"Stormin' Norman" on 60 Minutes

December 28, 2012 6:30 PM

The press called him "Stormin' Norman," the Army called him general. CBS News correspondent David Martin profiled Norman Schwarzkopf in 1991 for 60 Minutes.

General Norman Schwarzkopf was one of America's quiet heroes. He went into Iraq, took care of business in a hurry and came home. The troops who served under his leadership are mourning his death and are asking that flags go to half-staff out of respect for this giant-sized leader. Can we not call for that to honor "Stormin' Norman," at the request of all those other unnamed heros who fought for us then and still fight for us today?

A purple heart, three siver stars and three bronze stars make him a hero and made him and 4-star.

'Stormin Norman' the hero. There was little opposition for the U.S. in the Gulf War. Had the least qualified general been in Norman's place he (or she?) would now be hailed as the 'hero'.
