Obama: "Modestly optimistic" a "fiscal cliff" deal still possible

After his last-ditch meeting with congressional leaders today to avert the "fiscal cliff," President Obama said it is still possible to get a long-term deal, but added that, absent a comprehensive agreement, he will ask Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to introduce a short-term stopgap measure.
