I'm haunted by the cub footage and agree that 60 Minutes should have posted a warning about such sensitive and disturbing material. The Jouberts have attempted to explain their failure to intervene and euthanize the cub, but I cannot agree that it was the right thing to do.

Likewise, I thought the injured cub and the mother lion's agonizing choice was one of the saddest things I've ever seen. Just thinking about it brings tears to my eyes. I think 60 Minutes was correct in showing this poignant footage. It reinforced my long-held beliefs that animals have great capacity for emotions. I do wish the cub could have been euthanized after it was clear that the mother was not coming back.

Are you kidding,do we need to see the lion cub dragging its feet behind it, crying to its mother, and the mother having to walk away. Does anyone think that maybe we are watching this as a family evening. I/we are deeply disappointed with CBS news. It indeed was the saddest thing that any of had ever seen. You have us so desensitized to human death and suffering that you have to resort to helpless animals. 60 minutes really needs to take a second look within and consider their viewers and what is news and entertainment. I have never written a news show before this, it was truly disturbing.

I love the cover photo -- I would have naively assumed all lions had the same color eyes. Obviously not true! How gorgeous!

I too have been unable to stop thinking about the cub with the broken back. I am a vet tech so I'm not naive about life in the wild, but I absolutely think the Jouberts could have humanely euthanized the cub after the mother abandoned it. I'm angry that they didn't do this; it would have been compassionate and would not have compromised their mission to observe and not interfere.

I found the footage of the injured lion cub, which the Jouberts left out of their film, too disturbing and had to turn the TV off after I watched it.
