Not to mention the growing concern that with nearly $4 billion wagered legally in Nevada through their 216 licensed sports books and an estimated $80 billion bet illegally, that the results of college sports contests are rigged. In fact the results of NCAA surveys conducted, the latest being a 2008 survey published this year, indicates that 1 of 3 student-athletes wager on games. A small percentage have admitted being propositioned to alter results. The fact is, with all the elements considered, the mathematical probability that the results of selected collegiate sports contests are NOT being influenced by nefarious outside 3rd parties is ZERO. The massive amount of money focused on college sports by both the university's, the media, and the gambling public is totally out of hand. And ultimately the greed and corruption will surface
putting to risk entire college athletic programs.

Hmmm...no mention of the Athletic Director recommending cutting Baseball and Men's Soccer. Is it really okay to to focus on "big time" football at the expense of two sports that have been in existence at Towson since the 1920's? My understanding is there was a 2.5 million dollars surplus when Waddell came to Towson 2 years ago...and now we are cutting two sports. Is that really what University's should be doing with their sports program...spending so much money on one or two teams, that other teams suffer? By the way, the Men's Soccer team and Baseball team have the highest GPA's and graduation rates of men's sports at Towson, with the exception of men's golf (9man roster). Isn't successful academics more important than a big name football team at a University? Remember 99% of our DI Student/Athletes go pro in something other than their sport!
