Please let Mr. McCullough know that here in California, elementary teachers have stopped teaching, reinforcing early American history so that students can do better on state testing in math and language arts. This leaves everything history related to 7th grade to 12th grade missing the opportunity to ingrain much of the geography and meaning of US's early years. It is not the teachers or the parents, it is the curriculum and testing that dictates the last 20 years that I have been teaching.
