Obama suspects Libya attack targeted Americans

November 4, 2012 3:53 PM

In an interview with Steve Kroft conducted on Sept. 12, 2012, President Obama says he's suspicious that those who carried out the deadly attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, were "looking to target Americans from the start."

The media has failed the public by reporting what they feel we should know instead of reporting the facts. When journalsits decide what the public needs to know, true democracy and our American way of life will soon be in the past.

I grew up on Cronkite and Wallace. This whole thing has me now doubting the entire premise for what is supposed to be CBS news. HOw far the mighty have fallen. I just hope that some precedence can be found or used in order to hold CBS accountable for the harm they have inflicted on this country.

I had always counted on 60 Minutes to provide the truth and an unbiased picture when interviewing anyone. I now know that this is not the truth not only for 60 Minutes but for other CBS News programs as well. The entire Benghazi situation and they way the White House has handled it and they way 60 Minutes and CBS has reported is an embarrassment. To have information that the public needed to know and to knowingly leave it out of the interview when you KNEW that the President had contradicted himself and you had proof was not unbiased journalism. From here on out I will always question anything that 60 Minutes reports, as well as CBS news.

It is nothing less than astonishing that 60 Minutes chose to edit out the part of this interview where Kroft tells Obama "Mr. President, this morning you went out of your way to avoid the use of the word "terrorism" in connection with the Libya attack" and Obama's response in the video clip 60 Minutes released after the second presidential debate. What possible excuse can there be for this? The once proud network of Edward R. Murrow and Mike Wallace has become a pathetic joke. First it was Rather and his fake papers hit on Bush, now this!

Kroft and everyone else at CBS news should be ashamed of themselves.

The actions of the media the past four years have been shameful. The primary function of journalism is to give "fair, accurate and unbiased" information to the American people. Journalists have an ethical responsibility to report information on events in this manner AND are supposed to be "the eyes and ears of the citizens." How about some real investigative reporting? Where are all the tough questions? The media has been an embarrassment (and all of this has been more than an eye opening experience for many of us).

How can you call your self journalists? Shame on you! Because of your cover up and your obvious attempt to protect the White house, American people will not trust any of the stories you present on your weekly program.
I used to be a big 60 minute fan. Well, you just lost me along with my family. I will tell my kids that you are only an entertainment show. True journalist's would have cracked open this story and ran with it. Your old journalism teachers of value from the old days must be rolling over in their graves. If they could only see what American Journalism has come to. In my opinion, the 60 minute staff involved in this cover up should be prosecuted for treason.

How does anyone believe this program anymore. The reporting is an absolute joke and the "journalist" and editors are an completely biased and present their version of the news that follows their agenda. 70% of the independent voters dont trust the media...this is exactly why. This is not the 60 min of the 80's and 90's!!

I am disappointed in CBS and 60 Minutes for their failure to provide Obama's statement in a timely fashion.
This just adds to the great distrust that many in the United States have of the media and their belief that the media goes out of their way to protect those of the liberal/progressive persuasion!
