Thank you so much for this, 60 minutes.
Very enjoyable and peaceful context, yet efficient flow in the story.
What a rare memorable moment with these two good storytellers sitting down and there is no computer or mobile phone in sight.

Just watched the interview with Mark Owen, the SEAL on the Bin Laden raid.
Why am I not amazed that 60 Minutes politicized it into an Obama commercial?

I admire Mr. McCullough's work and was happy to see him on 60 Minutes. His warmth and enthusiasm for history came shining through in this interview. I look forward to Part 2!

A DAY before Nov. 6th., 2012, with Presidential voting to be done,
seems so appropriate for such a reflection as this...- for between a 2nd. Term & a Contender, for the Presidency, there is a universal adjust to be, by observance, realized:
He is an adversay, not an Enemy...
We are both U.S. citizens...
We are both Americans...
...as ALL the rest of the electorate wishes to believe..!

Reaching a bit deep here, but I guess this sort of legitimizes Dermocrats claim that Romney is a murderer.

Excellent article. Has Mr. McCoullough noticed that the date of the Declaration of Independence (July 4) also was the birthday of George III? Perhaps this was Franklin's way of giving "the Bird (or it's then-equivalent) to the British Monarchy?

Every historian I've ever admired was an excellent storyteller (bibliophile). Thank you for this wonderful segment and for reminding me of why I love U.S. history.

Great segment! Reminded me of my history professor at Drexel University here Philadelphia, Dr High. He taught Colonial History as a story with all the interesting details and subplots. One Saturday of each month, Dr High would give free walking tours of Colonial Philadelphia to any student or faculty member.

What I loved most about this segment was that it was just as much story telling as it was journalism. Bravo 60 Minutes. Always impressed.
