October 16, 2012 12:10 PM

Jeff Glor talks to William L. Silber about his new book, "Volcker: The Triumph of Persistence." Volcker served as chairman of the Federal Reserve Board under President Carter and President Reagan, and most recently served as the Chairman of the Economic Recovery Advisory Board under President Obama. Silber writes about how Volcker restored the reputation of the American financial system when he battled the Great Inflation of the 1970s, and how he resisted pressure from both political parties to lay the foundation for economic stability.
