You are nothing but a biased Bond-hater. This is a great journalist piece on the 50th anniversary of a big movie franchise.

Well done, 60 Minutes. Great job, Mr Cooper.

As a program that recently devoted an entire one hour segment honoring the legacy of recently departed colleague Mike Wallace, I have found and continue to find the content of "60 Minutes" increasingly poor. This segment on "James Bond" placed the program at an all-time low. Was this intended as an insult to Mr. Wallaces' distinguished career as a journalist? Was it an obvious attempt to garner ratings amongst those who are unable to find any entertainment in things other than "Hollywood" fantasy? Was it a time filler for a program that is obviously so misguided that I most often refuse to watch it? The answer to my own three questions is an emphatic "Yes".

This piece was such an insult to the intelligent observer that if throwing the television out of my apartment window would have jolted your management or "editorial board" to any degree, I would have done just that. For a once proud program that was an example of fine journalism to insert such a piece of garbage into their offering was obnoxious and offensive. It will be a long time before I ever elect to watch "60 Minutes" again.

The segment on the 50th Anniversary of the James Bond films was extremely enjoyable, however, as a devotee of the series, I can't help but feel that Ms. Broccoli and Mr. Wilson should not have summerily dismissed Pierce Brosnan, who was largely responsible for reviving the franchise after the lackluster films of Timothy Dalton. Brosnan should have been afforded the chanse to portray Bond in one or two additional films of higher quality. Moreover, Craig is an excellent actor, but he lacks the physical stature and he projects a dour image; the Connery charisma is somehow lacking.Preliminary reviews of Skyfall are encouraging; perhaps this Sam Mendes film will cause me to reassess my impression.

Barry Nelson aside, it is also incorrect to say that there have only been 6 actors who played James Bond in the movies. 1967's "Casino Royale" starred David Niven as a retired James Bond, returned to duty to combat a resurgence of SMERSH, headed by his nephew "Jimmy Bond". While admittedly a comedy, there is no question but that Niven is playing the Fleming character. Once again, CBS News hits one out of the ballpark!

Geeze, I'm 55 and if this iconic series gives up the ghost before I die I
will be extremely disappointing. RIP me in advance. Long live 007.

How DARE you do a segment about James Bond without mentioning the FIRST James Bond, Barry Nelson, who appeared in a TV production of Moonraker in October 1954 co-staring Peter Lorre?

Yes, it really is a fun fantasy to play James Bond in real life. I took up ballroom dancing as a social activity and then was encouraged to perform. I ended up dancing routines to the Bond music and became "Mr. Bond" at the ballroom. The owners of the ballroom encouraged me to fly out to Beverly Hills to have a suit custom made for the dance performances. Soon I discovered I was surrounding myself with more and more of the signature Bond items (even taught myself to make a "Vesper" martini). {sigh} Life is fun as a middle aged guy surrounded by your "Bond Girls". It's addicting. (check out YouTube if you want to see some videos of my performances)

I think Anderson does a fine job enjoying the opportunity to get to see some of the Bond props.
