Given everything that this man has gone through, why are people getting so hung up on the fact that he's not speaking English. Does it really matter?? Show respect and give credence to the ordeal that he's been through and commend him for sharing his story with us.

He's only been here for a short time, it's easier for him to tell his story in his mother tongue. Answering back to Mariaha there're some ppl who've been here in the states for over 15 yrs & don't speak english.

He is here from 9 months ago and this interview was about 6 months ago . It means when Ahmad Batebi attended in this interview , he was here for 3 months and this time is not enough for learning a foreigner language . You can visit his website :

In addition every one prefers to speak with his/her mother language for describe the story as important as his story .

He is staying around one year in US and he can speak English. However for precisely describing the sever situation he was in there, I think that he has preferred to speak in his native language (Persian).
