Like Colonel Shue, my son John Michael Dilday was also murdered in Kendall County, Texas. On January 29, 2009 we received a phone call that said our son was in a minor traffic accident and committed suicide. One week before John Michael's death he started an internship on the Diamond K Ranch. The internship was through Southeastern Illinois College for Game Preserve Management. He would have graduated in June 2009. The Justice of the Peace, Debby Hudson, did not have an autopsy performed. We, the family, had an autopsy performed at our expense. The Kendall County Sheriff's Office said our son had been shot once, but the autopsy showed two bullets. The case continues to be full of contradictions. The only evidence kept was the gun. When we arrived in Texas, John Michael was at the funeral home. His clothes, bloody pocket knife, change, and keys were then given to us. When I asked the funeral director if the police were going to be taking them as evidence, we were told no. We then went to the Kendall County Sheriff's Office next and were given John Michael's wallet and cell phone. While at the Kendall County Sheriff's office we listened to a 911 call our son made, reporting a person not being able to hear out of his right ear due to the traffic accident. At the Diamond K Ranch we were given all of our sons belongings packed against the wall in his room. The ranch manager told us he broom swept the road were the accident happened. Our son was placed in a house with 7 immigrants on the ranch. Lieutenant Martinez told us the immigrants were illegal, and if they were involved they would have left the country. We do not understand why the statements continue to change and why two immigrants with our son never saw anything, but were only feet away. John Michael deserves Justice and we seek the Truth.

Another example of our dysfunctional legal system. This beautiful, loving wife deserves better. That ugly ex-wife clearly hides the truth and it makes me sick that she profited from the torture and death of a person that she should have loved at one time. The state should care enough to bring this ex to justice.

It makes me sick and disgusted that Col. Shue was even declared a suicide in the first place. No finger prints on duct tape, no syringes found, the letter, his ex-wife not willing to comment. An innocent person has no problem telling what they know. I feel so sad for Mrs. Shue and am glad that the judge spoke the truth. The Air Force made their report after the fact and with no evidence, just a bunch of bureacracy. I pray that God will bring the truth out and that whoever is responsible will no longer be able to live with what they have done. My heart goes out to you Mrs Shue and all those who loved this man. You can tell that he really was loved and did not have this deeply disturbing capability to do what some have accused. May God bring peace to you and thank you for having the strength and courage to share your painful and tragic loss.

My ex husband died two days after we divorced from natural causes and I was not able to collect life insurance even though I was the beneficary.. This story makes no sense!!! Guesshu...Did you watch the program? The judge read his ruling on air.....he changed it to homicide.
And what are you talking about "well investigated"? There was NO investigation, just like there was NO investigation when a similar thing happened to my brother. I hope and pray you never have this happen in your family. You have no idea what it's like. Just the fact that Col. Shue's fingerprints were not on the duc tape is "compelling evidence". Just like a police captain telling my mother my brother was standing in the middle of the room when half his head was blown off, it's where all the mess was.....but yet his body if found across the room on the couch, next to a large white book that has no blood on it whatsoever.....is compelling evidence. Pretty neat tricks, to be able to duc tape yourself without getting fingerprints on the tape, or walk across a room and neatly lay down on a couch, while placing a gun in the opposite corner and putting your feet up on it with half your head gone. You do NOT know what you are talking about, if you don't have something constructive to say, don't say anything.

Actually there is a mechanism in Texas to appeal a manner of death finding. Submit "New and Compelling Evidence" that was not found during the first coroners inquest. Tracy Shue has no new and commpelling evidence so this remains a well investigated suicide.

YES...the first wife got a million and the current Mrs. Shue got 1.8 million (thank goodness she wasn't left out). When you sued, she ended up dropping the ex and one insurance company and the second insurance company was found not negligent. HOWEVER, Mrs. Shue did get some justice in that the judge ruled her husband's death a HOMICIDE. Now, at least, she can fight on. When a death certificate says suicide, it's done, over. You have no recourse, and no one will help you or even look at your story. Now I know why they did this story....it's no longer a suicide. Mrs. Shue's case is rare. There are many of us that have used every avenue we can think of to get the death certificate changed, this is the first time in almost 9 years I have ever heard of this happening. I'm so happy for Mrs. Shue.......she can fight on.

A phone call interrupted the last part of the program last night so I missed the end; was the first wife actually awarded the million dollar insurance payout? btw, I know of two cases similar to this - gain by spouse for insurance payout. It's not that uncommon, unfortunately. In one of them, the murdered wife didn't even know her husband had insured her life. There should be a law that the insured must sign and have notarized that he/she approves the life insurance policy.

I think people would be surprised how many times deaths are deemed suicides that are really homicides. Usually for one of two reasons, cheaper than a real investigation or the police are somehow involved. Until it happens to you, you have no idea how alone you are. This happened to my brother, the crime scene pictures ALONE prove he did not shoot himself. You can see his story at http://www.realcrimes.com/Allison/Shawn%20Allison.htm and MANY other stories on the main page at www.realcrimes.com. Homicides being declared suicides is a pandemic in this nation and it has to stop. I pray Mrs. Shue finds the justice that I may never see for my brother.

Karla4277 you sound like Ms Shue, why else post her website. What I hope is that they will report about the long mental illness that the Mr. Shue had.

I know Ms. Shue and know her story very well. I was wondering if CBS will contact the man who helped her out in the beginning with the research and is sponsoring the website: www.colonelphilipmichaelshue.com. That website is very informative, and I hope that his assistance to Ms. Shue finding justice is mentioned.

I think they wait until the west coast broadcast version has ended before making it available on line. That way, west coast residents are forced to sit through the advertisements and can't avoid them by going to the on line version. If you're really unlucky, they'll wait until the show has ended in Hawaii. As for me, I live in Qatar and have to wait until Sunday evening to watch the show on line
