wow what a story. my heart aches for both of them, I hate that they had to go through this. and i'm glad they caught the evil that did it. both Dan and Dani are beautiful people and they are both heroes without a doubt.

I'm happy they survived. I find it interesting the way Dan (as a young man) was trying to think of anything he could do to protect Dani & took the blame (on himself) afterwards that he wasn't able to protect her more. It partly shows that the 2 sexes (in general) have distinctions. I am wondering if a 10-year old boy in a similar situation (God forbid!) with a 10-year old girl would feel the burden of trying to protect his friend (more than she felt this towards him). I am guessing he would.

If anyone watches "I Survived," which is another show that featured Dan, Danielle, and their story, Danielle actually talks about two men who pulled up in a red truck when the duck hunter flagged them down, and they were so terrified that it was the man who shot them coming back that they went back into the river. The duck hunter returned with two men (neither one the shooter) and asked them what the heck they were doing and to come get out of the water. And those two men took off their jackets and wrapped Dan and Dani up and literally played a huge part in saving their lives. I'm assuming those two men, although not really spoken about here, are the men Dani's roommate was talking about that 'saved them along with the duck hunter' who were invited to the wedding. I just wish everyone who had a role in saving their lives had been mentioned in the broadcast. But I'm so grateful that in this story, it has a happy ending, justice prevailed, no one died, and love and new life came out of it. Inspiring. God bless you both, Dan and Danielle, and your beautiful families.

The worst phone call a parent could receive. I think it was so wonderful that Danielle decided to speak to the audience. When I heard that she stood up and her roommate mentioned that "it was going to be emotional" I started to tear up too.

It would have been cute if they had stayed together and got married but I am so proud of them and happy they found people to marry. So glad that these two brave people are still friends. I hope they never loose contact.

Your an inspiration. Thank you for sharing this story and thank you Mr. Duck hunter :) so glad you just happened to be their that day to help these young people.

What brave souls. Thank God that psycho was probably so drunk he didn't notice they weren't dead. An absolute miracle they both lived and weren't disfigured or maimed.
