If Obama wanted to emulate McCain''s attack ads, we would hear robocalls in the Heartland informing America''s patriots that McCain:

a) was in the pocket of former Lincoln Savings & Loan president and convicted criminal Charles Keating;

b) was buddies with fellow convicted criminal Republicans Ted Stevens, Tom Delay, Scooter Libby, Bob Allen, Trent Lott, Jack Abramoff, Don Young, Larry Craig, Randy %u201CDuke%u201D Cunningham, Tom Feeney, Alberto Gonzoles, Bob Ney, Mark Foley...etc;

c) accepted political donations from the Watergate convicted criminal G. Gordon Liddy;

d) picked a runningmate mired in scandal (Troopergate) and has acted "unethical" according to her own people - - and doctored expense reports to bilk her taxpayers;

e) gave up information to his communist captors in North Vietnam, whereas other American prisoners did NOT;

McCain has a lot to answer for, but Obama hasn''t stooped to that level. You can%u2019t call yourself patriot while voting for criminals.

Devil is in the details, this is not only about NRG it is also about not wanting to pay or lease land that is needed for the wind generators and transmisition line and tag on some water rights with it also... its an attempt at a land grab. Only briefly did Pickens mention the use of "Emergency Eminent Domain"... Good luck Pickens because we North Dakotans will not allow some Texan or East Coaster onto our lands without a lease or a percentage of the profets that will be recieved by a private company that is selling NRG...and water rights good luck, no way will this be included.

My concern is,if we use up all the fuel it takes to keep the earth warm,what then? IS NATURAL GAS USED FOR EARTHS FUEL? WIND,SOLAR,RENEWABLE FUELS FROM THE EARTHS RICH PLANT LIFE IS OK UNLESS WE COME UP WITH A WAY TO USE NON-BURNABLE FUELS. TO BURN ANYTHING FOR FUEL STILL POLLUTES. ANOTHER THING,,IF THE PEOPLE WHO STILL WANTS TO USE THE OIL,GAS,FUELS ARE WELCOME TO MOVE TO THE COUNTRIES WHO KEEP UP USING THEM WHILE DISTORYING MOTHER EARTH.

And AlexWatkinz!!! YOu are my favorite... The average Joe in America? You are wondering how reducing dependence on foreign oil can help "Joe the Plumber?" Well, how about the fact that using natural gas burns cleaner and is only a stepping stone for vehicles. The Chevy Volt will be able to plug in your house and run on electricity. But the problem is that most of the electricity in the U.S. comes from burning coal. HUGE POLLUTER!! And there is NO SUCH THING AS CLEAN COAL! If the entire US power source came from wind and solar (which it can and is feasible and is COMEPLETELY RENEWABLE), then all of our cars (assuming we move to electric cars) will run off of United States power. It will take ten years or more. But it is people like you that stop innovation. "How does that help me?" How about your children. For ever dollar we send to that tumultous region that we purchase 75% of our oil from, think of how much money we send to terrorists. That''s how you the avarage Joe can benefit. We can stop worrying about terrorists, we can save the environment, and we can strengthen our dollar by having more countries invest in the US.

WOW... Sassy032, in regards to oil company mergers and the price of oil. I think you are alluding to price fixing by international oil companies. Did you know that Exxon is only #14 on the list of largest oil companies with the most reserves? Numbers 1-13 are all in the middle east. You aren''t completely in the dark about price fixing though, but it has nothing to do with domestic mergers. Ever heard of OPEC? That is WHAT THEY DO!!! And guess what? They are all in the middle east with the largest reserves. DO some research. And if you want to invest, go to pickensplan.com.

Notice this story purports to be about Boone Pickens, NOT about the Pickens Plan. This somewhat explains the short shrift given to the Pickens Plan and PickensPlan.com.

However, it''s not a surprise that the mainstream, predominantly liberal media would hold a grudge against Pickens and his role in Kerry loosing to Bush in 2004. Notice how warmly Kerry greeted Rose in the footage above, completely ignorming Pickens. This is the measure of Kerry the man, and CBS news.

While it is easy to question his motives, the need for energy independence is unquestionable to the survival of our country and lifestyle. T. Boone Pickens is the ONLY person I see stepping up with a plan and he''s putting HIS money where his mouth is. He has the ability to mobilize and give a voice to ordinary citizens to demand that our elected officials do something about this issue.

60Minutes - Has any statistical analysis genius analyzed when the price of gas started to really shoot up? I''ll bet they will show the upswing in gas prices has a direct correlation with all the mergers of the oil companies. It''s funny, once mergers were called monopolies. XOM was a MONOPOLY when it was Standard Oil and the U.S. Government broke them up. In 1999, Exxon & Mobil became a MERGER and the U.S. Government said, "O.K." After, I''m sure, alot of palms got greased. Now the grease has turned to _ _ _ _ for this country & its people. Everytime I hear the word "merger" along with the words "in order to remain competitive" in the media, I think the words "monopoly in order to raise the prices".

T Boone Pickens has made the most commonsense solution to our energy crisis I have heard so far. Even if we just convert the big rigs & save 1/4 of the oil imports, it will make a HUGH difference. Heck, the media is now trying to convince us the price is dropping at the pump simply due to supply & demand. Well, mark these words, it will shoot up again right after the election. Then they will claim it is due to a storm or a repair at a refinery, etc, etc. Fill all your cars, gas cans, etc before the election. They will shoot up beginning Nov 5 or 6.
Thank you Mr Pickens. Even if your idea is too early to be accepted as a possible solution now, the idea has been stated & will be implemented in the future. Where can I invest?

T. Boone is a man of vision. Whether he profits from this "plan" is immaterial. He''s trying to move us off of our soft, lazy butts to wean ourselves from foreign sources of energy. This piece only touches the surface. He is promoting wind and solar and other renewable sources of energy, not just natural gas and more drilling. He deserves some credit ... and we should demand to know which candidate endorses his plan. He should be a key advisor, along with Bill Richardson, Governor of New Mexico, to the new President and his Energy czar regardless of who is elected.

Pickens Plan does not address how this will affect the average Joe in America - how to get your car to run on natural gas - it only addresses the big business to save money. The average American will not benefit from this. If you''ve been to one of his town meetings, he never addresses how YOU can convert you car to run on natural gas, just the big rigs. CNGoutfitters.com and technocarb.com are a couple places that can help you do that, jumping on the caboose of the Pickens Plan (for big business).

Who will set the price for natural gas once we have converted our entire infrastructure? Mr. Pickens? Is this a case of trading the evil you know for the evil you don''t know? We''ve spent the last 8 years being told of the consequences of not giving our leaders new powers so they could save us from disasters. The OK to go to war that would not be used. Immunity from prosecution for torture and wire taps. Billions of dollars with no over sight. This sounds like its right out of the same play book.

Mr. Pickens'' plan is the ONLY plan around that will start to make an immediate dent in our use of foreign oil.
I was disturbed that the story on 60 Minutes, was almost entirely about "Pickens'' profit motive." Mr. Pickens is 80 years old. He is investing almost his entire net worth in BUILDING this system. He will be long gone LONG before this investment even begins to show a profit.
The story didn''t even touch on what the plan is, or what its basis is. That is, replace much of heavy transportation''s use of oil, with natural gas. This is OLD technology---virtually any standard gas or diesel engine can be easily converted, and still use gas or diesel simply by turning a valve. I have driven propane-powered (natural gas) fork lifts for years--the reason is that the propane powered vehicles can be used INDOORS. E.G., they run much cleaner.
Natural gas will be cleaner, but more importantly, it will cut into the use and import of oil. And it gives us TIME to develop the exotic power methods what will eventually be our real, final answer.
