The Good and the Better of the Pickens Plan:
Good: Using natural gas for transportation fuel;
Better: Convert natural gas to liquid and integrate it with coal-to-liquid; avoids changing our distribution system and on-board storage. And since some geologists are uncertain how much natural gas the new shale based finds contain, we avoid a possible dead end.
Good: Make electricity with wind
Better: Use solar thermal with overnight storage as the backbone to go - not just to 20%, but to 80% and more; also use other renewables to augment the solar thermal.
Good: National distribution system to transmit electricity around the country - from both solar and wind rich reasons; a lot cheaper than making electrical energy in regions which are low in solar and wind energy.

I believe CBS let Pickens off easy. PickensPlan neglects solar power, which gives the American homeowner TRUE energy independence. Pickens is selling dependence on windmills. Solar needs to be the main focus of our country''s energy future.

I was leery of Pickens initially since he is an oil man trying to sell an idea to the country. Gradually I began to believe in the idea he was selling. Tonight''s 60 Minutes opened my eyes though. When Pickens admitted to giving $3,000,000 to the Swift Boat smear campaign and then had the gall to say he doesn''t regret it and he knows things the rest of us don''t know, he lost my support right there. I see a greedy old rich man who is still trying to control our country, our elections, our resources. I will not support any investment idea Pickens presents.

Yes Pickens is right less foreign oil. More natural gas, more solar and wind. Planting switch grass (native grass ) that was on the plains especially on acreage that is less fertile is also a good idea. Cellusoic ethanol, like switch grass needs to replace the more inefficient corn ethanol. Switch grass can grow 10 feet high and two harvests a year can occur with less water and neglible fertilizer need. Need to get this ball rolling.

T. Boone Pickens is the man with a solid plan that can change the short and long-term future of America%u2019s financial economy. Our dependence and addiction to foreign oil is the noose around our necks. People often look down on the wealthy and say%u2026 %u201CWhy don%u2019t they do more to help carry the burdens of the less financially fortunate members of society?%u201D

As a country we should dump the politicians and leaders who have ignored this ever-growing problem. Pickens is a pioneer veteran of the oil industry, who understands energy, economics, and the power and influences of energy addiction and dependence when it comes down to how it all works. His plan and solutions therein are designed to get the noose off our necks!

If you were dying of cancer%u2026 Would you complain because your doctor was getting paid too much, or because he lives in a nice home and drives a nice car? The answer is No!!! You would pay for the best help you could get%u2026. Pickens is not asking us to pay him%u2026 all he%u2019s asking for is a little support from us and our government so we can save ourselves.

People%u2026 stop complaining and start participating%u2026 Our participation is our only real hope for real change, and we must start now.

I hope Pickens makes money for assisting us with our major financial problems.

God Bless America

Good for Picken''s, good for U.S., good for us. I hope he does get richer. Maybe that is the incentive that someone needs to get results that will benefit the USA,lessen dependence,lessen pollution.Every president and congress has had the opportunity to correct this problem from Carter to Bush and not one has done anything but provide lip service to the American people.If putting money in Boone''s pocket does it we all win
