CBS is sold a bill of goods again. Why do they buy every story from every crackpot? Maybe ratings are more important than hard reporting.

Has anyone read the eyes of the delta force commander who led the hunt for Bin Laden. In his interview it sure looked to me like he was using his eyes to send a morse code message. His blinking eyes made me think about the messages that the media said Bin Laden may be hiding in his recorded messages.
And on the economy, how has the costs of oil not affected the world economy? Gas cost almost 4X what it cost in 2001, $1.18 then and $3.79 - $4.35 now. The cost of oil has made the cost of everything go up, it is no wonder that we ran out of cash here and around the world. We can only keep sending boat loads of cash to the middle east for sooooo long before the banks run out. Why don''t we ask the Saudi''s to send some of that cash back to us and we could end this banking/cash/wall street mess...

It''s the occupation stupid! Let''s justice be the guiding principle. The revolving door of bribe and corruption on Wall St. and their Congressmen Associates that bring us to this finanical mess. They think that by just bribbing a few guys to help them find Bin Ladin is down right stupid. It''s the occupation of Iraq(thinking that some how the oil underneath their soil is ours), Afganishtan, and most importantly Isreal of brutal 35 years of occupation of Palestine that''s is the deep rooted problem--stupid. There is no peace until there justice. GOT IT?

This is no surprise at all, because everything is just power play in US, no real discussion about if something actually gets done. I bet that US will have spoiled brat as next president, simply because he seems to be though - which he is not. Check Rolling Stones story about McCain. Read his own words and the words of his military friends. That guy is the next president, there is no way black guy can become a president in US.

what is wrong here? The idea is or should not be that we strike back and kill Bin Laden, but it should have been done expidishously(i know that word is spell incorrectly, but i really need to use it here). Any attack on our country should have beenanswered like a quick, stiff, hard punch to the jaw. At that point it would not matter who replaced Osama Bin Laden cause their would be reservations. The longer this man lives the weaker the United States appear. The stupid greed of this current adminstration has made a laughing stock of the rest of us.

I have never understood the reasoning behind going to great effort to assassinate bin Laden. Perhaps it was to sooth some battered egos.

Does anyone think the man did not anticipate his possible death and make preparations for it? Can anyone believe that, if he was killed, his fighters would hang their heads and pack up and go home?

People thought that the death of Ho Chi Minh would weaken the North Vietnamese will. They fought on for 6 more years after his death and entered Saigon

Even if bin Laden had been killed and his men left, the Afghan mujaheddin would carry on without him or them. They fought the Russians through most of the conflict without bin Laden or his people.

I served in Vietnam in the early days and watched as the war tore it and the US apart. I know the thinking that the guy smiling and taking your money at one moment could be shoving a knife in your back in the next. I understand ARMYPROUD80''s anger.

I know it''s unpopular to say this, but it''s Vietnam all over again. Except this time there''s no press or cheap beer.

I read carlos1274''s post and was angered. I''m currently serving in Afghanistan, and was also there after 9/11. If you''ve never been to Afghanistan and never met it''s people, then I''m sure you would be angry at this story. Most of Afghanistan''s people hate the US. They pretend to be loyal to us, then just as quickly turn on us to help the enemy. You don''t understand what it''s like to hunt for 1 man among thousands, in foreign and harsh terrain. Add to the mix that he was/is being protected by thousands more. On top of that, Afghanis are lazy fighters, they spend the cold months planning how to kill us, then the whole spring/summer/fall trying to beat the *** out of us. Who is accountable? Me, I''m a Soldier, other Soldiers, our government, and you, whose tax dollars help fund these missions to hunt Bin Laden down. If you think "we" can do a better job, why don''t you join us? We could sure use the "help" from someone who "thinks" they have all the answers.

As recent as yesterday a lady in another interview complained about Obama talking about the wall between America and Europe. How much longer will the American public allow those shameless crooks to pull the wool over their eyes? The Afghans aren''t the only ones who pretend to be neutral or friendly when in fact they hate the US. I have traveled extensively and I can tell you that to my estimate probably half the world (yes, 3 billion!) are passive dissenters with maybe 10% of them hating America enough to be willing to engage in anti-American activities, be it terrorism, trade boycotts, voting for anti-democratic organizations, discriminating against media sources, books etc. To think that rushing into any country on the other side of the world with modern weapons and American flags and thinking that this will bring peace, stability and democracy to that country is gross mistake. Yet we continue to seriously listen to and debate with those who offer such solutions. It is not the fault of the soldiers that were sent into this mess without a chance to win. It is the fault of ignorant leaders who WE ELECTED because we allowed them to trick us. We believed their sweet lies. We neglected our duties to democratic participation. Only we can make the change!

It is because stories like this that makes many of us citizens grow so distant and suspicious from the US policies and trust. How is it that a very powerful, all patriotic and anti-terrorist country like the US allow this to happen. If this story is true, WOW!..if is just a political spin WOW!...I know the US is better than this. Why do we spend Billions of dollars and we have no results? Who is answering to the citizens of the US? Who is accountable to what is taking place? Is our goal and mission a joke or is this a game? Can anyone tell me why we have not found Bin Laden? How much money we have spent in pursuing him without results? Are we that weak? How long do we have to go before he is brought to justice? Come on, US, we can do better than this!
