I think that Mechelle got exactly what she deserved. the only people who have a right to be upset are the victims parents and mechelle's poor daughter who will now live a life without her mother. i think mechelle is a sneaky, lying, manipulating woman who knew exactly what she wanted and knew exactly how to get it. she truly is the Femme Fatale. Most men who go to strip clubs are lonely and mechelle used that against them. the woman had three fiances at one time... i mean come on seriously???? what kind of person could do that to someone. she can cry all the tears she wants those are not tears of sympathy those are tears of fear. she will now spend almost the rest of her life behind bars. she thought she was going to walk away scott free she even said it herself. after the jury came back with a guilty verdict she said on camera she didnt plan on that verdict she had plans to go out to dinner that night. o-well its called karma hunny now deal with it!!

Did anyone else find it odd, that Mechele claimed Kent was gay even though they met at a strip club that she worked at?

I am soooo torn about this case. At first I thought that they were BOTH guilty. But then reading more on it, this seems more like something Kent set up. He was well aware of the emails sent between John and Mechele. He went to Hope Alaska TWICE...but why? If he knew that there wasn't a cabin in hope Alaska, why go there again ya know? Plus, according to John Carlins aliby at the time, John was evidently on the phone with his sons school because he was getting expelled.

And Kent knew what was ahead for him so thats why he took Mechele off the insurance policy, told his family of whats to come. Out of all things to think, why would he feel that Mechele and John or Scott would kill him? Nothing in the emails we were ABLE to see, showed proof of a plan of killing him and why would that put that in email? That would be stupid. Plus, why would they email that stuff to each other showing their plan? So I truly feel that they made those emails BECAUSE Kent was stalking Mechele. Plus Kent had on him, the insurance policy, his ID and something else ( not really relevant though). Plus when they checked his car, the EMAILS were printed out and in his GLOVE COMPARTMENT, why? Then there was mention of the footprints not even matching John Carlins size.

But on the other hand, why would Mechele have to call up the place about the insurance policy? to cancel? What for? There weas no mention of their "engagement" being off was there? Plus I feel the things that made John Carlin guilty was the fact that he lied that he even owned a gun that he had bought from a guy out of the newspaper ad ( not smart John!)wash the gun and throw it out. If he knew of some shady stuff going on, why feel the need to clean up the mess yourself? And if his sons finger prints were on it, why not ask him about it? Plus he said that the gun was missing around the time of Kents disappearance and reappeared after he died. And why would Mechele tell John to "not touch" his own gun???? Does that make sense to anyone? It sure doesn't to me. It makes them both look guilty. And John Carlin IV should have know ( must have known) that his testimony was going to be damning to his father. So for him to mention it is questionable.

There have been so many speculations about this case, it's crazy. Some feel that John Carlin IV killed him because Kent was molesting him and was indeed gay like Mechele claimed, which is why his fingerprints were on it.

I am so torn.

I don't believe Mechele nor John Carlin had good attorneys, AT ALL.

It's hard to beleive that someone can be so evil, Mechele is a true monster. Two men have die because of her. I'm glad that she is where she belongs.

I do not believe for one fraction of a second this girl is guilty of the charges. I think John Carlin killed Mr. Lappik over a jelous friend based relationship they had. John did look and talk like a loose cannon, and his motive would be jelously. I also think the letters and email between a young girl and older men as the were, can be explained as just exactly that...a young girl taunting flurting and pergaps using older men...nothing more. I do hope she gets a fair trial the next time. Letting in evidence about a movie that was never proven she even ever watched was BS and john Jr. had 2 different stories??? motive?...he too had a thing for this young girl and dad was in the way?? possible? sure is!

I seen this on tv the other nite. My husband is from Alaska, so it interested me. My daughter said she was up in AK when the trial was on. It seemed to me that the woman really could have made men really mad. When you treat people that nasty then it can make people want to get even. Did anyone ever think she was set up? Why would you hang with people you think are going to kill you. Mom and Dad get this letter about her going to kill him. Then he ends up dead. Why would you go other there with these people who are going to kill you? Talk about revenge. This man sounded obsessed with her, maybe it sent him over the edge, maybe suicide. Did not the dead guy have access to the gun. He lived in the house. What if he took the gun out there and set it up so it looked like she did it. He could have someone go out there with him and grab the gun after the fact. She could have sent this man over the edge. Now she is suffering like she made him suffer. What a plot!

This seems so typical of our judicial system. I did not hear any proof that made me believe either person is guilty, but I did hear a lot of nonsense on the prosecutor side, but NEVER any evdience. All I kept hearing was that she was a stripper. SO WHAT??????????? Does that mean they think every stripper is a killer???? There is something so wrong with this picture.

I wish the jury would have let her go back to her family. The bottom line was there was no proof. Many innocent people are convicted on circumstantial evidence. I truly believe that she was convicted for being a past stripper.

I think they should put the prosecutor and detective on trial for murdering an innocent woman, because they obsessed over convicting someone even though they had no proof she did it. They acted just like the woman in the movie, they wanted to show against Michelle. This is a case of how justice can become vindictiveness and revenge. They let people who tie people to anchors out in 20 years on plea deals but give 99 year sentence to someone that they cannot prove anything against except that she was not a morally perfect person.
What a world we live in!

John Carlin, convicted last year in a notorious Alaska murder and serving his 99-year sentence, died under suspicious circumstances

I believe she had something to do with it, but my question is WHY? What was her motive?

She'd taken out an insurance policy on his life a few weeks before his murder as a wedding gift. HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY!

Get yer money when the not so bright boy is dead.

I believe Scott's analysis as I had drawn that conclusion at the get go... she only shows you what she wants you to see to obtain what she wants to from you. Take a look at the man accused of shooting lippik... Can you ever see michelle with him? She used him for her little plot... and if for no other reason than to live out a movie????? worse has been done for less!

Why is there no mention of Mechelle's parents? What was her past like before Alaska?
