Mr. Carbone, I watched the 60 minutes piece. You provide the unemployed a safe harbor where they can piece themselves back together. I was impressed with your compassion and knowledge of the "carnage" of unemployment on our citizens. You are right, all Americans should be outraged into action over what has transpired since jobs left this country in the 1980's. The cost of unemployment was shown on an individual basis through the piece, but, I fear as a nation we are suffering the same psychological self-abuse. I feel we do not clearly know who we are anymore. We accept what we are told by our politicians without a reaction. We've watched both parties sign trade agreement, after trade agreement, without knowing the impact upon our well-being as a whole. Reagan sold the "globalization" theory, then we watched as companies dismantled equipment, sent jobs to other countries, then sent the finished product back to sell here for the same price. What did we think would happen, did we think we could keep buying foreign goods without a job or money? How can an individual make a difference in this country? This country is being controlled by the wealthy from every level, media, finance, government, etc. We have little control over our destiny anymore. There are not gold watches anymore. We are all out here blowing in the wind. Those that are working probably don't want to admit what is really happening even though they see their children graduating from college with debt and not job. They are still satisfied to have a job to go to themselves. Sixty minutes, nice reporting, but we really need solutions from the top. I do not see solutions coming, from my vantage the government is the cause of our problem.
