The company withheld App Store approval for Drones+, an app that sends text messages to iPhones whenever the media reports casualties resulting from a drone strike and shows users the locations of drone strikes on a Google map.

Amazon says Kindle Fire is "sold out"

/ CBS/amazon.com(AP) Amazon quenched the Kindle Fire on Thursday, saying its first tablet computer is now "sold out."
The Internet retailer has a major press conference scheduled for next Thursday in Santa Monica, California. It's widely expected to reveal a new model of the Fire there, so the announcement that the first model is "sold out" suggests that Amazon halted production a while ago to retool for a new model.

During a 30-minute question-and-answer session commonly referred to as an AMA - which stands for "ask me anything" - the President addressed Citizens United, the space program and Internet freedom.

Reddit is a link-sharing community that has a sub-section called "IAmA," which allows anyone to start a thread for people to ask unfiltered questions. Within 15-minutes, the thread - titled "I am Barack Obama, President of the United States -- AMA" - had already received 1,333 comments. The number of comments is currently at 22,941.
"It was a good day!" Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian told CBS News in an email. "Over 200,000 people on site hitting during the interview (mashing reload to keep seeing updates) is a new high." Reddit typically sees about 100,000 people on the site at a time.

(CBS News) Members of the link-sharing website Reddit had a chance to directly ask President Barack Obama questions on Wednesday. The President participated in a forum commonly referred to as an AMA - or "ask me anything."
"Hey, everyone: I'll be taking your questions online today. Ask yours here," the President tweeted, to confirm his identity on the website. The President went on to include a photo of himself typing at his computer on the Reddit AMA thread.

/ Stephen Shankland/CNET(CNET) Sony bulked up its Vaio lineup with two new entries today: one a large table-top product and the other a convertible device that can toggle between a tablet and a laptop.
The hybrid is the Vaio Duo 11, which has a keyboard, but can slide between a laptop design and a tablet-like slate.
The second is the Vaio Tap 20, a 20-inch table-top PC that can be used by individuals or as a multimedia center for groups.

/ Steven Shankland/CNET(CBS/AP) Fresh off a legal battle with Apple, Samsung is announcing a new version of the Galaxy Note, an offbeat, oversized smartphone that's become a surprise hit.
Samsung, the world's largest maker of phones, is revealing the Galaxy Note II at the Internationale Funkausstellung (IFA 2012) trade show in Berlin. The 5.5-inch screen is narrower but longer than on the first version. The processor is faster, and the software has been further adapted for the included stylus - the phone's signature feature.
