(CNET) Microsoft's much talked about Surface tablet may be Wi-Fi only, according to Bloomberg.

The news agency reports that people familiar with the tablet's specs say the device will go on sale without any mobile-phone network connection, but will come with a short-range Wi-Fi connection. This could change in later models.

Microsoft's next Xbox with Kinect 2 could be $299, report says

(CBS News) Microsoft may have let plans for the next Xbox video game console leak, according to a recent report.

The Verge reports, a 56-page document from 2010 that was posted online suggests Microsoft's next gaming console, which has been nicknamed the "Xbox 720," might feature a Blu-ray player, 3D output, SmartGlass, Metro dashboard, Xbox TV apps and a price point of $299 when bundled with Kinect 2.

(CNET) Microsoft threw a surprise hail mary in Los Angeles today with the unveiling of its new line of Windows 8 and Windows RT tablet-laptop hybrids dubbed simply "Surface." But some big questions remain, like -- when? how much? and who is this for?

Surface is a bit larger than an iPad with an HD display, full-size USB port, Microsoft's next-generation operating system, a built-in kickstand, and a detachable cover that doubles as a flat keyboard and touch pad. That's what we know from today's unveiling, but there's much more that we don't know.

(CBS News) Microsoft announced the Surface tablet computer Monday at an event in Los Angeles. Chief executive officer Steve Ballmer took the stage at Milk Studios to show off the company's new tablet.

The Microsoft Surface features a 10.6-inch display, a full version of the Windows 8 operating system, Gorilla Glass, a built in kickstand and a tactile multi-touch keyboard.

"We wanted to give Windows 8 its own hardware innovation. Something new, different, a whole new family of computing devices from Microsoft," said Ballmer.
