Lady Gaga makes splash at Clinton birthday bash

(CBS News)

Former President Bill Clinton celebrated his 65th birthday -- and the anniversary of his non-profit foundation -- this past weekend with a three-day all-star Hollywood party -- even though his birthday is Aug. 19.

Lady Gaga headlined one part of the celebration, at the Hollywood Bowl Saturday, joined by the likes of Stevie Wonder and Usher.

But it was clear Mr. Clinton was the night's real rock star.

Bill Clinton partying 3 days for 65th birthday

The former commander-in-chief said at the event, "How cool is it to be 65 and you get Lady Gaga? And then I wondered, she said she was going to have a 'Marilyn moment,' and I thought, 'My God, I get Lady Gaga, and I will have a heart attack celebrating my 65th birthday!"' That moment? Gaga wore a blonde wig.

CBS News contributor Hattie Kauffman reported the weekend event was part birthday bash, part fundraiser, hosted by The Clinton Foundation, a global issues organization.

Singer Stevie Nicks said of Mr. Clinton, "I think it is very honorable he chose to do that instead of going on a long, fantastic vacation."

Access to the high-profile event came at a price. A seat in the nosebleed concert seats cost $50. And if you wanted to attend the VIP reception, it was $100,000 to get through the door. A cool $1 million could buy a round of golf with the former president.

Actress Jessica Alba said, "His foundation has done incredible things, and he's the only person I can think of that can put (this) together."

Ten years after leaving office, it seems the Clintons' love affair with Hollywood is still going strong.

Of course he's popular with hollywood. He's a poser like the rest of them. When he signed the female genital mutilation law (it never happens to girls in America) into effect, it didn't include protection for boys from genital mutilation who can be denied the right to their whole bodies. He then went to a genital mutilation ceremony called a "bris." He is a hypocrite. Of course the Jews in Hollywood, who aren't aware that male genital mutilation has nothing to do with being Jewish and that 60% of Scandinavian and Russian Jews don't practice "bris", support him 100%. He is the bastion of the politically correct brain dead in this country. He's a charlatan, and full of himself, not unlike most of hollywood. No, I'm not a republican. He doesn't impress me at all, and I stopped buying into new hollywood years ago.

Whatever Clinton did or didn't do in office, he's been a great humanitarian since then and has done a tremendous amount of good in the world.

I wasn't a fan of his presidency but I give him a lot of credit for what he's done the last 10 years. I hope he enjoyed the festitivies - we should all be so lucky to have a birthday bash like that.

Lady Ga Ga doesn't even compare to Marilyn not by one hair. I think it is an insult to Marilyn Monroe for GaGa to do this. I don't care which president or ex president she did it for.

But Willy is the only president that ever made conservatism work.
